Hi friends! I have a ridiculous amount of blog posts to catch up so forgive me for keeping the intro short today. This post is for the newest batch of nail polish mystery bags from Bee’s Knees Lacquer. These nail polishes were all inspired by the book The Hurricane Wars by Thea Guanzon and share the same name.

These bags will be available starting on May 17th alongside the new Daughter Of The Moon Goddess collection on the BKL website and stockist pages. All of the polishes in these mystery bags are described as being sheer shimmers. There are a total of 6 possible polishes and each mystery bag includes two 15ml bottles.

If you do not want to be spoiled in regards to what will be available in these mystery bags, I would recommend not scrolling any further.

Bee’s Knees Lacquer is a US based indie brand. Their polishes are in 15ml bottles, 5 free, cruelty free and vegan friendly.

Firedancer

Description: a sheer navy with red to green microflake shimmer

Firedancer had a fantastic formula, it applied really evenly but it is very sheer so you want to try to build it up to gain some coverage. However you won’t be able to reach full opacity with this polish without a opaque base.

In the bottle, this looks very dark and you don’t get nearly as dark an overall look on the nail as you do in the bottle. The shimmer however is gorgeous and just glows on the nail. It’s a little bit larger in particle size so it has some sparkle action but no texture like a glitter polish would.

My photos show Firedancer in 3 coats plus glossy top coat. I didn’t personally experience any staining with this polish but I fee like it has the possibility to be a stainer. Removal will be very easy but a little messy due to the glitter.

Rainsinger

Description: a denim blue with glowy blue shimmer

Rainsinger also had a fantastic but very sheer formula. Once again you’ll want to build this one up to get any level of coverage going, the shimmer in largely what gives this polish some coverage.

On the nail, the denim blue base looks very much like a grey to me. The color you see on the bottle doesn’t really translate to what you see on the nail. The shimmer is super strong and glowy.

My photos show Rainsinger in 3 coats plus glossy top coat. Nothing in here will be difficult to remove and I didn’t experience any staining.

I wanted to compare this to You’re Finally Awake (Polish Pickup March 2024 Slumber Party). While these aren’t dupes, I do think they’re incredibly similar, You’re Finally Awake is described as having a grey base while Rainsinger has a denim blue one. However, I found that on the Rainsinger appears grey with blue shimmer.

Sale Information

The Hurricane Wars mystery bags go on sale May 17th at 7PM Eastern time on the Bee’s Knees Lacquer website. Each bag is priced at $25 for two 15ml bottles.

There is a 1 per person limit on these bags but multiple people per household can pick up bags. All of the polishes in this release will be available at a later date at $14 each.
