Bee’s Knees Lacquer Daughter of the Moon Goddess

Hi friends! Today I am sharing my swatches for the newest collection by Bee’s Knees Lacquer. This collection is inspired by the book, Daughter Of The Moon Goddess by Sue Lynn Tan.
I had a little bit of a goof this month for blogging so this post will be formatted a little bit differently from my typical blog posts. It’s also kinda late, sorry about that! My video review had gone up earlier in the month on my YouTube channel.
The brand describes these polishes as neons however, I did not find on the nail they look like neons. BKL is releasing a white VNL blurring base to go with this release, my photos do not include a blurring base. I prefer to show polishes as they are straight out of the bottle so that is what my photos show.
This collection is available now on the Bee’s Knees Lacquer websites and stockist pages. As always, I will have links to where you can pick this up at the end of the post.

Bee’s Knees Lacquer is a US based indie brand. Their polishes are in 15ml bottles, 5 free, cruelty free and vegan friendly.
I Will Be Your Undoing
Description: a soft sheer minty green with pink to gold to green microflake shimmer
My photos show I Will Be Your Undoing in 3 coats plus glossy top coat.
Little Star
Description: a sheer aqua polish with strong gold to green shimmer
My photos show Little Star in 3 coats plus glossy top coat.
I kept getting Little Star and I Will Be Your Undoing confused when I was editing my video so I wanted to just show them side by side so you can see the color difference between the two!
Sky-fire
Description: a dark taupe polish with small particle silver magnetic shimmer
Sky-fire is the revamped version of last month’s polish Minora that ended up not being released. This does NOT have the pigment speck issue that Minora had.
My photos show Sky-fire in 2 coats unmagnetized and in 3 coats magnetized. This would be a great magnetic polish for the velvet effect.
Sunbird
Description: a sheer golden yellow that almost borders on chartreuse with red to green microflake shimmer
My photos show Sunbird in 3 coats plus glossy top coat. I wasn’t able to see the green color shift in this one. The shimmer largely looks a orangey red on the nail.
The Celestial Kingdom
Description: a soft sheer sky blue with pink to gold to green microflake shimmer
My photos show The Celestial Kingdom in 3 coats plus glossy top coat.
The Demon Realm
Description: a sheer pale greige base with glowy gold to green to blue shimmer
My photos show The Demon Realm in 3 coats plus glossy top coat.
The Phoenix Queen
Description: a sheer coral with silvery blue to pink microflake shimmer
The Phoenix Queen is one of the sheerest polishes in this release. In the bottle you see a bright vibrant coral but on the nail, it’s not quite as bright.
My photos show The Phoenix Queen in 3 coats.
There Are No Prizes In The Game of Hearts
Description: a sheer pinky red with green to blue microflake shimmer
My photos show There Are No Prizes In The Game of Hearts in 3 coats plus glossy top coat.
They Would Know My Name One Day
Description: a soft sheer blue with pink to gold to green microflake shimmer
They Would Know My Name One Day I loooooved the shimmer in this polish. It’s super color shifty!
My photos show They Would Know My Name One Day in 3 coats plus glossy top coat. The third coats doesn’t really add much as far as opacity goes but it does deepen the blue base just a hair.
True Greatness Lies Within
Description: a sheer barbie pink with light green to blue microflake shimmer
True Greatness Lies Within I found my camera washed the shimmer out a little bit. Check out my live swatch video to see a more accurate color of how the shimmer looks.
My photos show True Greatness Lies Within in 3 coats plus glossy top coat. The third coat deepens the shade of pink in the base.
Final Thoughts
All of the formulas in this release were fantastic as to be expected from BKL. If there is one polish Sarah knows how to do with expert levels is a sheer shimmer!
I do wish that these neons looked a bit brighter on the nail. In the bottle most of these look pretty vibrant but that vibrancy doesn’t really reflect due to (I think) the level of sheerness in the base.
After living through the early days of neon nail polish where you needed to have a white base to get the eye searing look, I am pretty much against doing it now. So I don’t think this was the neon release for me personally even though I did think these formulas were great and loved the shimmer effects.
My top pick without a doubt will be Sky-fire. I was truly amazed at how smooth the application was. Let me know what you thought of this release in the comments!
