Hi friends! Today I am sharing two of the polishes coming to this month’s Polish Pickup shop! For June the theme is Cartoons.

Bee’s Knees Lacquer – Evolve Today

Inspiration: The informative cartoons that explain how to use your plasmids from the video game Bioshock
Description: a sheer lime green base with glowy orange microflake shimmer

Evolve Today this is one of those gorgeous sheer polishes BKL is so known for. While you do see some of the sheer green on the nail, the majority of the opacity is coming from the shimmer.

I found the formula to be great on this one, just a little bit on the thicker side but still very easy to apply. My eyes were picking up a orange/yellow to green at extreme angles color shift. The microflakes do not dry down textured but they do remove like a flakie, so fairly messy.

KBShimmer – Sugar, Spice & Everything Nice

Inspiration: Powerpuff Girls
Description: A teal-leaning blue base is the perfect sky-like background for a shifting micro flake shimmer.  Featuring a bubblegum pink color, the micro flakes easily flip into vibrant yellow and green hues with a change in viewing angle

Sugar, Spice & Everything Nice is one of those tricky polishes that in my opinion do NOT photograph well at all. I feel like all of the photos I have seen of this one, mine included, make the polish look very textured when in person it just looks like it has dimension.

The formula on this was really good but it was on the thicker side. I didn’t have any issues with application. This is a slightly sheer polish so it does need building up to gain some opacity going. I opted for three coats as I found it a little bit too patchy for me to call it good in two.
