Cirque Colors Twisted Tea Party Collection Swatches and Review

Hi friends! I am so excited to share this new Cirque Colors release with you all. Today I have their new Twisted Tea Party collection! All of the polishes in this collection feature a shimmer and holographic combination that Cirque calls Shimmergraphics.

As a fan of whenever holographic and shimmer get together, I was pumped to get these onto my nails. Honestly, the fact that these kinda make a rainbow was also a reason for excitement for me.

Hot Gossip

Description: a sunset orange with a red-orange-green color shifting aurora shimmer and an intense scattered holographic effect

Hot Gossip um wow?? This one really knocked my socks off! The base on this was pretty sheer so largely the opacity comes from the shimmer.

The formula for Hot Gossip was fantastic, it didn’t feel overly thick or thin and I had zero application issues. As I mentioned, this is a fairly sheer polish so you do need to build up to gain opacity but you won’t reach full opacity without an opaque base.

While the shimmer description mentions a green color shift, I found it came at such extreme angles that I wasn’t able to see it well enough to say it appears well on the nail. Largely what I was seeing in person was the red to orange color shifts.

My photos show Hot Gossip in 3 coats plus glossy top coat. Since this is a sheer polish, I did have VNL with it. The holographic does dry down textured so you will want top coat for a glossy finish. I would recommend the soak off method for removal as this is a glitter polish.

Jammin’ Out

Description: a vivid grape purple with blue-violet color shifting aurora shimmer and an intense scattered holographic effect. 

Jammin’ Out I found the base to be a little bit on the thicker side but it applied very easily. Coverage is sheer and a little bit uneven, so you need to build it up. The formula overall was pretty great.

The shimmer in here is very glowy. It doesn’t pop as much from the base as some of the other polishes in this release since the shimmer color is a purpley shade. In my opinion, the star of the show in this polish is the holographic glitter!

This is also one of the more sheer polishes of the collection so your nail line will be very obvious with it.

My photos show Jammin’ Out in 3 coats plus glossy top coat. I found to get an even base, I needed all three coats. The glitters do dry down with some texture so you will want top coat for a glossy finish and I wouldn’t reccomend scrubbing this one off.

Pinky’s Up

 Description: a medium magenta pink with a magenta-green-gold color shifting aurora shimmer and an intense scattered holographic effect.

Pinky’s Up I knew before I even got this one onto my nails that I was going to love it. This is one of the more opaque polish of the collection. There is still some VNL with it but it’s not as noticeable as some of the other polishes.

Pinky’s Up had a wonderful formula, the base didn’t feel overly thick or thin and I had no application issues. The shimmer in here is also stunning, it’s very strong and doesn’t show any brush strokes (none of them do). I was largely only seeing the magenta/pink to gold color shifts in person.

My photos show Pinky’s Up in 3 coats plus glossy top coat. I will call this a 2-3 coater depending on personal preference. If you don’t mind a more noticeable nail line, coverage is very even in two coats. You will want top coat for a smooth and glossy finish.

Spoonful of Sugar

Description: dusty periwinkle blue with purple-blue color shifting aurora shimmer and an intense scattered holographic effect

Spoonful of Sugar is another one of the more sheer polishes in this collection. I found that I had super obvious VNL with it even after three coats.

It had a fantastic formula, everything applied very evenly and easily. Coverage was really even so I think this has some potential to be used as a topper.

Just based on the bottle, I would say this was the color that I was least interested in. I had initially thought the shimmer colors were too similar to the base to be something but in person, I was able to see a purple to PINK color shift with gold coming in at extreme angles! Instant love!

My photos show Spoonful of Sugar in 3 coats plus glossy top coat. Once again, for a smooth finish you will want top coat and don’t scrub this one off!

Tipsy Turvy

 Description: a robin egg blue with red-orange-green color shifting aurora shimmer and an intense scattered holographic effect.

Tipsy Turvy was one of the more opaque polishes in this release. While I did still need three coats, the third code was more about evening out the base and not for opacity. You will however still have some VNL with this polish but it’s like 90-95% opaque.

Much like the other polishes, the formula on Tipsy Turvy was fantastic. It applies very smoothly and coverage was pretty dang great. It wasn’t 100% even for me but I do think this is a 2-3 coater depending on your personal preference.

The shimmer in here really pops so well from the base color! I love contrasting shimmers so much. I mainly saw the red to orange color shift, a yellowy green came in at very extreme angles. And yes, the holographic was also amazing.

My photos show Tipsy Turvy in 3 coats plus glossy top coat. You will want top coat for a smooth and glossy finish. Don’t scrub this one off.

You Tart!

 Description: a acid green with a pink-green-gold color shifting aurora shimmer and an intense scattered holographic effect

You Tart! I love the addition of this color to the collection! I have been on a green kick as of late. I would say the brand’s color desciription of it to be accurate. It’s got a dash too much green in it to be called a chartreuse but it is a little bit yellow.

I found the formula to be great on this polish as well. It’s right in the middle as far as opacity goes. Not quite 100% opaque but not too sheer either. I did have some VNL with it but coverage was great, in my opinion.

The shimmer pops really nicely from the green base and you get a ton of sparkle from the holographic. I will call this another 2-3 coater depending on your personal preference.

Final Thoughts

As someone who will FOREVER love the combination of holographic anything and shimmer, I loved these polishes. I will fully admit that I was kinda confused by the marketing behind Cirque’s Shimmergraphics. There is a trademark for the name so I had (foolishly in hindsight) thought that meant there was a new specialty pigment being used. Don’t ask why I thought that, like I said it was foolish in hindsight.

While a shimmer with holographic glitter isn’t a new thing in the indie space, it gets me every single time! Especially when the shimmer contrasts with the base color. No matter what the lighting, you get something pretty to look at.

My top picks from this release are going to be Hot Gossip, Tipsy Turvy You Tart! and Pinky’s Up. I know I just picked 4 polishes out of a 6 polish release but those are what I liked the most!
