Hi friends! Is it too early for some polish that gives off Halloween-y vibes? No? Yeah I didn’t think so either. Given, Darlene didn’t say anything about Halloween for either of these polishes but as someone who loves Halloween I feel like the polishes in today’s post scream spooky season.
For today’s blog post I have 2 new custom polishes to share from Sweet & Sour Lacquer. One of the polishes is a group custom for the Facebook group MaryJane and Manicures Facebook group and the other is a custom polish by the blogger Polished Opinions.
These polishes are available now for a limited pre-order window on the Sweet & Sour Lacquer website. Feel free to use my affiliate code SweetNicole10 to save 10% off of the entire website! I will have all of the sale information for these at the end of the post.
Sweet & Sour Lacquer is a US based indie brand. Their polishes are in 15ml bottles, 5 free and cruelty free.
Electric Herb
Description: a clear base loaded with green/blue/purple shifting shimmer, purple micro glitter, iridescent purple/green micro glitter, and purple reflective glitter
As someone who is kind of a sucker for a clear based polish with a butt load of glitters.. yeah this one really amazed me. You can tell this by all of the extra pictures!
Formula on this was fantastic, even thought it has a lot of glitter the base didn’t feel overly thick. This does dry down with some texture. I opted to use a glitter smoothing top coat before my quick dry top coat and that got everything nice and smooth. I am sure that I don’t need to say this but do not scrub this polish off. How To Remove Glitter Polish The EASY Way!
I opted to swatch this one in 3 coats but because this is in a clear base, you could layer it over pretty much anything if you want to use it as a topper.
Welcome, Iris
Description: Purple jelly with purple/red shimmer, blue iridescent flakes, blue/purple ICC flakes, and yellow hex glitters in a couple different sizes
There is just something about purple and orange together that just screams Halloween to me. This is one of those jelly bases that depending on how thick of a coat you go in for, you’ll get different levels of the depth of color of the polish. I went in for a slightly thinner final coat on my pointer finger so that nail is just a tiny bit more sheer than the other nails.
Once again, we have a really great formula. I tested to see if the glitter payoff changes between holding the bottle upside down vs just shaking before applying and honestly didn’t notice any real differences in glitter payoff.
My photos show Welcome, Iris in 3 coats plus glossy top coat. This does dry down with some texture and I noticed by the time I finished my swatches, I was getting a little bit of texture so a glitter smoothing top coat or doubling up on your glossy top coat would be recommended.
