Holo Taco Brain Rot Collection
Press Samples, affiliate links used – post disclosure page
Spooky season is most definitely here and I fear this might be my favorite Holo Taco collection of the year! For Halloween this year we have the Holo Taco Brain Rot collection. There are 7 total nail polishes in this collection, one of which is a limited edition thermal (color changing goodness!)
Thankfully this release is not considered limited edition and it is also still currently in stock! Links and sale deets at the end of the post!
Live Swatch Video
Holo Taco is a US based nail polish brand. Their polishes are in 12ml bottles, 10 free, cruelty-free, and vegan.
Absolutely Cooked

Description: Charcoal-brown (cool state) to orange (warm state) thermal polish that changes colours depending on the temperature, with orange-pink iridescent flakies and orange shimmer
My swatches show Absolutely Cooked in 2 coats. I was able to reach full opacity in both color states in two coats. LOVE the flakies.
Aura Farming

Description: Multi-dimensional formula packed with holographic flakes, light gold holo glitters and a cyan iridescent shimmer in a deep plum jelly base
This polish photographs a little bit ugly IMO but in person, it’s a stunner. My swatches show it in 2 coats!
Chopped Taco

Description: Black and grey holographic topper in a clear base with mix of holographic glitter shards, circles and flakes
As a chunky glitter lover, everything about this topper was amazing to me. My photos show Chopped Taco in 1 coat over white and black cremes and 3 coats on its own.
Doomscroll Or Die

Description: Iridescent blue and orange flakies in a cranberry jelly, with reflective blue glitter, silver scattered holo and blue shimmer
A third coat of Doomscroll Or Die adds a hair more opacity but isn’t 100% needed in my opinion.
Overstimulated.exe

Description: Multi-coloured matte micro-glitter in a clear base
My swatches show Overstimulated.exe in 3 coats.
Retina Maxxing

Description: Slime green jelly packed with gold-green iridescent flakies
For anyone wondering, this is a 90% dupe to Mooncat’s My Cabbages!. The base is just a hair lighter in color but for all intents and purposes, they’re the same.
My swatches show Retina Maxxing in 3 coats plus glossy top coat.
This Is Fine

Description: Multichrome metallic flake-packed formula that shifts between green, gold, orange and red
My swatches show This Is Fine in 3 coats, this is sheer enough in 1coat that it is doable as a topper.

Final Thoughts
I absolutely LOVED this collection. It was so fun, and unique in comparison to Holo Taco’s past releases. Very much a breath of fresh air.
Overstimulated.exe reminded me SO MUCH of the Floam style nail polishes from indie brands 15ish years ago. Honestly the whole collection is very much indie nail polish vibes, which seems to always be my favorite releases from Holo Taco.
My only real complaint about this release is the names are a wee bit cringy but I am also down for everyone embracing being cringy (have you seen my Twilight shirt collection??) so it’s not a real complain.
My top picks are Overstimulated.exe, Absolutely Cooked, Chopped Taco and Retina Maxxing.
