Zoya Color Of The Month September 2023 Swatches And Review
Purchased by me, affiliate links used
Hello friends! Today I am sharing my swatches for Zoya’s September 2023 Color Of The Month. If you have missed the past couple of blog posts, I have been swatching through the past few months of their releases. Each month since June, Zoya has been releasing seasonally appropriate shades that I recently found out are limited edition.
September just might be my favorite that they have given us for the year. I have blog posts already up for June, July and August in case you missed them. I will likely be posting these releases a bit earlier now that I know that they seem to be limited releases.
September’s polish is available right now on the Zoya website. This and all of the other Colors Of The Month come with Zoya’s Z wide brush, which is pretty exciting news! I’ll have more links at the end of the post, if you’d like to see this polish in natural lighting, my live swatch video will be up on Saturday!

Connor
Description: a mid-toned grey with holographic flakes and micro-glitter
Connor I expected this to have a similar formulation to the glitters in the recent Fall collection, Enamored. Those were in a jelly base, this is in more of a grey crelly base. It has a little bit more opacity than most of those glitters.
This polish has a TON of holographic goodness to it but it’s muted down slightly due to the base being more opaque. You still get a lot of holographic sparkle but the base kinda muddy it a little bit.
The base is slightly on the thicker side due to having a butt load of glitter but I found it super easy to work with nonetheless. I found the coverage to be pretty nice with this in 2 coats. I could see a tiny bit of unevenness in the spaces between the glitters but honestly didn’t feel like it was serious enough to justify going in for a third coat.
The glitters in particular do dry down very textured, doubling up on your top coat will give you the smoothest finish. I thought that I would be able to get away with one thick coat of my new favorite top coat, Salon Perfect’s Plumping Gel Top Coat. It’s a very thick top coat (it’s not really gel, it’s regular lacquer) that usually does a great job smoothing glitters out. Sadly looking at my photos, I feel like this looks pretty dang textured! So yeah, don’t do what I do and use multiple coats of top coat to smooth this one out.
My photos show Connor in 2 coats plus one thick coat of top coat. I could see folks with longer nails than me going in for three coats. Do NOT scrub this polish off. Use the soak off method or a peel off base coat. This is not the scrub off type of polish!
