Zoya Bloom Spring 2024 Swatches & Review

April 18, 2024

Hi friends! I am playing catch up and getting a bunch of blog posts up for things that I posted YouTube videos already. Today’s post is for my final mainstream (hint hint) spring 2024 collection of the year. For Spring 2024, Zoya is giving us the Bloom collection.

As someone who has been swatching spring collections since January, I am 100000% OVER pastel cremes at this point of the year. Long time readers know that pastel cremes are rarely my favorites but by this point of the year I NEED summer brights to be released. Which is why I was kind of excited for this collection as it wasn’t a typical spring collection.

This collection is available now on the Zoya website. At the time of posting, Zoya is currently running their annual Earth Day sale. This collection along with their entire website is 50% off!

Zoya is a US based mainstream brand. Their polishes are in 15ml bottles, 10 free, vegan and cruelty free.

Fleur

Description: a fun, classic spring pink cream

Fleur has that classic Zoya creme formula that we have all grown to love. A little bit on the thicker side but the kind of thickness that gives you a nice opaque color with perfect self leveling.

I LOVE how bright this polish is! I also love that it is NOT a spring pastel. This is just vibrant enough that it feels like it could be worn in other seasons but also light enough that I can buy this being in a spring release.

My photos show Fleur in 2 coats plus glossy top coat.

Hyacinth

Description: a sweet yet delicate candy pink, with microfine holographic, pink and white glitter.

Hyacinth had a pretty wonky formula. This required *a lot*, I repeat A LOT of thinner to get to a workable consistency.

My method for adding thinner was add thinner, shake do one coat. Add more thinner, shake, do the next coat. And then add some more thinner, shake and do my final coat. I was very commited to getting this to workable consitency.

After a lot of thinner, the formula on this wasn’t bad at all. It was just getting the thinner in that made this a difficult polish. This a super cute polish and I honestly love how it looks. I do wish the holographic was a bit more in your face but I always feel that way.

My photos show Hyacinth in 3 coats plus 2 coats of top coat. The glitters of course dry down with some texture so you will likely want to double up on your top coat for a smooth finish. Don’t scrub this one off.

Phoebe

Description: a mid-tone watermelon cream

Phoebe I have never seen a watermelon that is the color that this polish is but I fully recognize there are a lot of varieties of watermelon.

I had a little difficulty with the formula of this polish. For whatever reason, it did not apply well over my go-to peel off base coat (Holo Taco Peely Base). It applied perfectly fine over my normal base coat (I think I was using Sweet & Sour Lacquer’s Smicky Sauce this day) and it applied fine over my bare nail when I was recording my live swatches.

Other than it seeming to not being compatible with peel off base coats, the formula was great. A little bit on the thicker side but the kind of thickness that gives you great opacity and stays where you put it.

My photos show Phoebe in 2 coats plus glossy top coat.

This polish gave me some serious deja-vu to Fleur. For a second I thought I swatched the same thing twice, side by side they aren’t that similar but for the same collection?

Rhiannon

Description: a vibrant icey blue, with microfine holographic, aqua and white glitter.

Rhiannon my experience with this polish was the same as with Hyacinth. Very thick and required a lot of thinner to get to a workable consistency.

Once I added thinner, the formula was pretty good but again it took a lot of thinner to get there.

My photos show Rhiannon in 3 thin coats plus 2 coats of top coat. This dries down very textured so you’re going to want to double (or triple) up on top coat.

I had thought the base color on Rhiannon would be a lot more similar to Sparrow (Zoya Y2K) but it’s not. Sparrow has a sheer jelly base.

Violetta

Description: a warm violet, with microfine holographic, aqua and rose gold glitter.

Violetta had the exact same incredibly thick formula as Rhiannon and Hyacinth. It took a lot of thinner to make this a workable polish.

I really liked the glitter mix in this polish but yeah.

My photos show Violetta in 3 coats plus 2 coats of top coat.

Zaria

Description: a deep spring rose pink cream

Zaria had a really great formula. At first it seems like it is opaque and one coat but it dries down a lot more sheer than it initially applies as well as darkening from what the color you see in the bottle.

Coverage is even and self levels really nicely.

My photos show Zaria in 2 coats plus glossy top coat. While coverage is even, I can see some hints of VNL with this one so depending on your own preferences you might want to add a third coat for opacity.

Final Thoughts

I haven’t felt this disappointed by a Zoya collection in quite a while. I was really looking forward to the glitter polishes specifically in this release and to find that they were this thick kinda sucked.

I did contact Zoya about the thickness in the glitter polishes, I was told that they were formulated to be thick due to the glitters. The customer service rep offered to send me over the Zoya brand of thinner. but I declined that offer as I buy the KBShimmer thinner in bulk so I am good on thinner.

I didn’t contact the CS looking to resolve the issue, I just wanted to give them a headsup about what I thought might have been a batch issue. I have since watched a few reviews on this release and spoken to folks who bought it at different times than me who also experienced issues with the same polishes.

I also was kinda sad that the cremes in this collection were all pink. I love the color pink but I just feel like half a collection being pink cremes is kind of a lot. Paired with the fact that the April Color Of The Month is also pink just feels excessive.

No top picks from me this round folks.
