Sweet & Sour Lacquer Perfect Pruglies

Hi friends! Today I am sharing my swatches for the new Perfect Pruglies collection by Sweet & Sour Lacquer! This release originally debuted at the Polish & Beauty Expo earlier in the month. I didn’t attend the expo this year but if you are curious about it, I did a blog post for it last year. It’s a really fun event if you’re into indie nail polish!
This collection may or may not be the result of me bullying Darlene into releasing more pruglies. Last year’s Oh Shit! collection was one of my favorites of the year and I have been pestering her to release more pruglies for MONTHS.
This collection will be available to purchase starting on August 1st on the Sweet & Sour Lacquer website. If you use my affiliate code, SweetNicole10 you can save 10% off the entire website.
Along with this collection, my new custom polish with the brand So Prugly, It’s Fugly will also be available along with the Celestial Hues collection and overpours from PBE. I’ll have more sale information at the end of the post!
It’s an “Eye of the Beholder” Kind of Thing
Description: a brownish orange crelly base with green shimmer and silver holo flakies
This is one of my favorites from the collection! The contrast between the shimmer and the base color is beautiful.
My photos show It’s an “Eye of the Beholder” Kind of Thing in 3 coats plus a glossy top coat.
Ugly? Who?
Description: yellow jelly base with pink/bronze/gold/green and purple/blue multichrome flakes.
This polish is very much fall in a bottle. The multichrome flakies just remind me of crushed up leaves.
My photos how Ugly? Who? in 3 coats plus both glossy and matte top coats. This dries down with flakie texture so depending on how thick your glossy top coat is you might need a second coat to smooth then out. Removal won’t be difficult but very messy if you scrub it off.
It’s Hideous. I LOVE It!
Description: a dark olive base with blue shimmer and black flakes
It’s Hideous. I LOVE It! is the least ugly polish in the collection. The blue shimmer seems to have a slight color shift of a teal/green to a blue.
My photos show It’s Hideous. I LOVE It! in 3 coats plus glossy top coat.
That’s Actually Really Pretty
Description: a chartreuse crelly base with purple/red shimmer
I am really picky when it comes to sheer yellow toned polishes because I feel like they very often make it look like I have some type of illness. This has just enough green added that it just look prugly rather than “you should see a doctor for that”.
My photos how That’s Actually Really Pretty in 3 coats plus a glossy top coat. This is the sheerest polish in the collection so I had very obvious VNL.
Prugly is my Middle Name
Description: a olive green crelly base with orange/gold/green shimmer
Prugly is my Middle Name is another one of the polishes that I would say isn’t that ugly but it’s just ugly enough to count toward prugly. The shimmer in here is strong and glowy.
My photos Prugly is my Middle Name in 3 coats plus a glossy top coat. This is another sheer one so you will have very obvious VNL with it.
Final Thoughts
As a prugly nail polish lover, I loved this collection! These are very much in the vein of pretty but ugly. I especially appreciated that we got an variety of finishes and opacity levels.
My top picks from this collection are It’s an “Eye of the Beholder” Kind of Thing, Ugly? Who? and Prugly is my Middle Name.
I also want to mention these are all shades are colors that I tend to find as stainers for my natural nails. After I finished swatching all of these and the Celestial Hues polishes, I noticed that I had some green staining on my nails. Make sure to wear a base coat or double up on your base coat if you find green polishes stain you too.
