[Press Samples – Post Disclosure Page]
Today’s blog post is for the newest collection by Swamp Gloss! This is their Pedro Pascal inspired collection. I have 4 of the 5 polishes from this release to share with you all. This is a very fun release and I am so excited to be a new member of the Swamp Gloss swatch team!
Swamp Gloss is a US based indie nail polish brand. Their polishes are handmade, 10 free, vegan friendly and cruelty free.
NOTE 4/13: I just realized that this blog post got lost in transfer over from the old website. The Swamp Gloss polish website is currently down to restock items. I believe these will be available again so I am just going to let this go up as the video has been up for awhile now.
Javi
Description: A tinted turquoise with bronze/green/teal aurora shimmer
Javi had wonderful formula. It didn’t feel thick or thin and applied really nicely. I found that the shimmer particles didn’t show brush strokes. It almost seemed like there were 2 different shimmer pigments in here. One being a bronzey gold and the other a green/teal.
You might be able to get away with 2 thicker coats depending on your nail length. I used 3 coats for my photos.
Mando
Description: A toned navy with red/gold aurora shimmer
Mando had a great formula. It didn’t feel overly thick or thin and application wise it was very similar to Javi. The navy base had a *very* slight greyed out look on the nail. The shimmer gave this an almost blurple look.
The aurora shimmer is very color shifty in person and a bit similar to unicorn pee color shift wise. This will be a 2-3 coater depending on personal preference. Thinner coats will give some VNL but if you go in for normal to thicker coats, that should cover up VNL nicely. I used 3 coats for my photos.
Maxwell
Description: A blue/green tinted white with neon pink and navy matte hexes
Maxwell had a great formula that skirts the line between a jelly and a crelly polish. I was really impressed by how thin (not watery or in a bad way) this polish was despite having so many glitters in it. The glitters all spread out really evenly on their own. I didn’t need to do anything special or hold the bottle upside down to get great glitter payoff.
I found this had good coverage in 2 coats but to get the color you see in the bottle, I went in for a third coat. To me, in person, this was a very light blue maybe with a hint of grey tones. I didn’t really see the green in the base color.
This also seemed just a touch darker on the nail than it was in the bottle. Removal will be tricky if you scrub, so I recommend soaking this off or using a peel off base coat.
Whiskey
Description: A violet to white thermal crelly with minty blue matte hexes and iridescent flakies
Whiskey had a wonderful formula. Like the other glitter in this release, I was very surprised at just how thin (not watery by any means) the polish felt despite being loaded up on glitter and flakies. It applied evenly and easily. The warm state is an ethereal ghostly white and the warm state is a medium to darker violet shade. You won’t have to hold the bottle upside down or do anything special to get good glitter coverage for this polish. The flakies really pop when matte and also in low lighting.
The thermal pigment was very reactive despite my hands being like ice cubes the day I was swatching this. I think you might be able to get away with 2 coats for this polish if you aren’t a sticker for VNL. I found the third coat didn’t seem to deepen either state in color but it did add opacity. There will be hints of VNL in the warm state after 3 coats. This will be slightly difficult to remove.

Final Thoughts
I am having a very hard time deciding on which of these was my favorite. Y’all know I love glitter and I love shifty shimmers! I was very impressed by the fact that the glitters in this collection all dried without very much texture. If you twisted my arm on picking my standouts, I think I would go with Maxwell and Mando. I just loved the glitter mix in Maxwell and the base + shimmer in Mando really made me happy.
I was sent the Swamp Gloss quick dry top coat with these polishes. I have been testing it out with most of my swatches plus Cindy hand manis during March and April. I am really impressed by it! It is a 10 free formula (no toluene) that dries really quickly. If you are in the market for a 5+ free glossy qdtc, this one is great. I haven’t experienced shrinkage with it. I am halfway through my bottle and I have added polish thinner only once.

A note on thermal/solar polishes…
I want to note that thermal and solar polishes do have a shelf life on how long they will change colors for. Generally they are guaranteed to change colors for 6-12 months. My oldest thermal that still transitions is from 2018. To get the most out of a thermal (all nail polish really) you’ll want to store them in a cool, dark place. I store my thermals with my other nail polish in the Ikea helmers. Once a thermal no longer changes color (aka dies), you can still wear them! The thermals that I own that have died, all stayed in the warm state but it’s not guaranteed to stay in the warm.
