Holo Taco is a US based nail polish brand. Their polishes are in 12ml bottles, 10 free, cruelty-free, and vegan.
Note: for all of the polishes in this release, I have them swatched in 3 coats over the Holo Taco Peely Base and Long Lasting base coats. I used the Holo Taco glossy top coat. As all of the polishes dry down textured I recommend pairing these with multiple layers of thicker top coat or even a glitter smoothing top coat if you have one!
Big Reef Energy
Description: Iridescent flakies in a coral red jelly base with gold scatter reflective glitter
I really loved that despite this having coral in the description, it doesn’t lean orange! I sadly was unable to see the gold reflects in this one.
I found my nail line to be pretty minimal on this one. The flakies largely distract from being able to see your nail line super strongly.
Crashing Out
Description: Iridescent flakies in a royal blue jelly base with silver scattered holographic glitter
This is that fun shade of royal blue that I have a serious issue with. And by serious issue I mean I can’t stop buying them. Love how it paired with the flakies. The holographic gave it a beautiful sparkle.
Don’t Be Jelly
Description: Iridescent flakies in a magenta purple jelly base with pink scattered reflective glitter
I found Don’t Be Jelly applied surprisingly patchy on the first coat but it builds up really well in 2-3. As long as you don’t mind that you don’t get the exact shade of a warm pinky purple on the nail that you see in the bottle, it’s passable in two coats.
Similar to the other reflective glitter polishes, I wasn’t able to see the colored reflects but I could see silver reflective particles.
My friend Linry had wanted to know how this one compares to Mooncat’s The Diabolical Mojo Jojo. The flakie colors between the two are different, TDMJ has shimmer and black flakies.
Made Me Ink
Description: Iridescent flakies in an indigo jelly base with silver scattered reflective glitter
The flakies in this one make it look MUCH more blue than the base color on it is. On the first coat the base almost looks purple but once you start building it up in stays firmly in the indigo/blurple category.
Out of all of the reflective glitter polishes, this one had the most obvious reflectiveness.
Wade A Minute
Description: Iridescent flakies in a teal aqua jelly base
Wade A Minute was the only polish in this release that I felt that I needed all 3 coats to cover up with patichness. I had initially thought that the patchy application was due to my choice in base coats (Holo Taco Peely Base) but I tried it with their Long Lasting base and Sweet & Sour Lacquer’s Smicky Sauce and had the same experience with all 3 base coats.
Despite the patchiness, I loved this color! The flakies are pretty big in this one so they behave close to chunky glitters but with less texture.
What A Catch
Description: Iridescent flakies in a bright pink jelly base with light green scattered reflective glitter
While I wasn’t able to see any green reflects in person, looking at my photos I can see a tiny bit of green peeking through. My eyes weren’t able to pick it up but I could tell that there were in fact reflective glitters in the polish.
Final Thoughts
I am sure I’m not the only one who loves it when Holo Taco does more indie nail polish style collections. I’m honestly a little surprised that this is their first go at a collection of flakie polishes. They did a fantastic job with them. The bases across the board were on the thicker side but nothing abnormal for flakie bomb style polishes.
I do with the reflective was a bit more in your face, I am not 100% sure if the reflective was supposed to be so delicate or if I suffered a batch issue. I did contact Holo Taco just in case the reflective was supposed to be more pronounced so I will update when I hear back!
My top picks from this collection are, Crashing Out, Wade A Minute and What A Catch. Let me know what you thought of this release!

I’m happy for this collection on behalf of all the glitter fiends, but my tiny stub nails *cannot* pull of these glitters. I’ll just admire the pretty swatch pictures instead 😄

I am actually really excited for this. I love really flaky polishes so I love this formula. I don’t know if I’m completely in love with the colors though.

These are so nice on you! I’m going to hold off as I bought the MC powerpuff collection and need to stay strong, but I can’t pretend I’m not tempted after watching your video haha
