Hi friends! After what feels like a long absence but in reality was only a year, China Glaze is back with some new polishes! Oh and they also changed pretty much everything about their bottles! We have a new paddle brush, new cap AND a new bottle that is shaped like the old bottle.

Out of the 10 shades that I have to share today, 5 are Ulta exclusives and 5 are new shades to the China Glaze lineup but not exclusive to Ulta. At the time of posting, there are now some new exclusive shades available at Sally Beauty (review incoming haha). I had originally thought that I purchased all of the new polish but I just found out that I am actually missing one shade. I’ll include that when I get the Sally Beauty review up.

I purchased all of these polishes from the Ulta Beauty website. While China Glaze hasn’t called these limited edition, if they are stocked anything like Ulta exclusives in the past, they won’t be around for as long as normal collections.

China Glaze is a US based mainstream brand. Their polishes are in 14ml bottles, 7 free and cruelty free.

Cozy Crimson

Description: a cherry red creme

This is a more crelly leaning creme so there is some VNL with it. My photos show Cozy Crimson in 2 coats.

Glisten Up, Babe!

Description: a holographic light mauve (Ulta exclusive shade)

Glisten Up, Babe! is the most holographic of the holographics in this release. It’s not the strongest holo I have ever seen but it is pretty. My photos show it in 3 coats but coverage is passable in two.

Glowing Petals

Description: extra pale pink creme

My photos show Glowing Petals in 2 coats.

Glow Commando

Description: a holographic blue grey (Ulta Exclusive)

The holographic in this one is a bit more disappointing. The grey base is very opaque and creamy so it kind of hides the holographic to make it look more like a silver shimmer as opposed to rainbowy goodness.

My photos show Glow Commando in 3 coats but I think this will be a 2-3 coater depending on preference.

Light As Lace

Description: a pale light pink sheer (Ulta Exclusive)

This is one of the sheer polishes in the collection. My photos show Light As Lace in 3 coats. This one was a bit finicky but I usually find that to be the case for polishes like this.

Midnight Pine

Description: a forest green creme

Formula on this was fantastic, pretty much a 1 coater but warning it was on the thick side. My photos show Midnight Pine in 2 coats.

Moonlit Merlot

Description: a deep berry red creme

Similar to the last shade, this was on the thicker side but it applied really lovely. My photos show Moonlit Merlot in 2 coats.

Shimmer & Bare It

Description: a holographic lilac

The holo in here is on the more delicate side. I used 3 coats to reach full opacity but if you don’t mind nail line, coverage is pretty good in 2 coats.

Sheer Tulle

Description: a pale pink sheer (Ulta Exclusive)

Out of the two sheers in this release, I preferred the formula and application of Sheer Tulle. I accidentally got this to be pretty opaque via floating my coats with slightly thicker layers. I used 3 coats for my photos.

Weathered Bark

Description: a deep taupe creme

This was a one coater! I am not usually one for taupe shades buuuut I loved this. Even though I thought it was going to be a completely different color when I bought it, I love it.

Final Thoughts

The formulas on these polishes were all pretty dang great. The new paddle brush made application so easy!! I do wish the holos lived up to my personal expectations (think OMG collection) but if you like less intense holographics, these are for you. The cremes however were phenomenal.

I am pretty sure the color story on this was likely selected by colors that are most popular among the general population and not die hard nail polish fanatics (if you’re reading this blog you are probably a fanatic). I am currently in the “it’s summertime so give me ALL of the brights!” so these are all kinda dark for my personal vibe right now.

My top picks are going to be Weathered Bark, Glisten Up Babe! and Midnight Pine. What did you think of this release??

Sale Information

The new rebrand China Glaze polishes are available now at Ulta (in store and online) as well as on Sally Beauty (in store and online). Between those 2 stores there are a total of 17 new polishes with a total of 60 polishes.

China Glaze is also sold at the following retailers Amazon, Walmart, Rite Aid, and Beyond Polish (use code NicoleLovesNails to save 10%). However, I don't see these new polishes at those retailers yet. I expect them will start being available at other retailers once the seasonal collections start coming out again.
