Today’s blog post is for the newest The Indie Movement collab! The theme for January is Animals with Significance in Indigenous Cultures. I have the Color Spectrum Polish offering to share with you all today. The shop for TIM opens tomorrow January 8th at 9am. A portion of sales this month will go to getting running water and solar energy to the Navajo Reserve. I will have more information plus links to where you can purchase at the end of this post.
The Indie Movement is a new monthly indie polish collaboration between a few indie nail polish brands. The mission statement says they only want to work with brands that strive for diversity and equality. They also want to celebrate what makes all of us unique! Each month has a different theme. A portion of sales will go towards a different charity each sale period.
Disclaimer: I was sent these products as PR in exchange for photographs and an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own. My photos were taken indoors with daylight/LED bulbs and outdoors in natural light. I used the KB Shimmer Clearly On Top glossy top coat and the Glisten & Glow Matte top coat for my photos.
Color Spectrum Polish – Re-Emerge
Inspiration: The Snake (rebirth & fertility)
Description: a black base with green to red shifting shimmers, burnt orange holo glitters and blue to red to gold shifting ucc flakies
Price: $12 for 13ml Cap: 50 bottles
Re-Emerge Had a great formula and I didn’t have any application issues. It is a little sheer on the first coat but it does build up nicely. This color is really interesting because of the green to red shifting shimmers. In some lighting/angles, it looks like a murky or deep olive green to a dark orange to a brown-ish color with like a hint of copper? Paired with the glitters and the ucc flakies, this polish had a bit of everything without feeling like there was a lot (in a bad way) going on. I used 3 coats for my photos. 1 layer of top coat smooths out the glitters and flakies.
The way the shimmer changes how the base color looks, if I hadn’t had the description in front of my while I was swatching, I wouldn’t have been able to decide on what the base color was other than dark. I’ll be honest, in the bottle I thought it looked odd but once I got it on my nail I was very impressed! For normal wear, I usually favor bright colors over dark but I didn’t want to take this one off!
Note: My label has a different name as Shannon decided to change the inspiration and name after already sending bottles out to swatchers! Bottles purchased will have the updated names on them.
