Sweet & Sour Lacquer Vacation Mode Activated Indie Nail Polish Collection

I still can’t believe there was a point in my nail polish collecting life where I thought cremes were boring. I am NOT that person anymore, which is great because it means that I can appreciate when I receive a collection like this one.

Sweet & Sour Lacquer is a brand that I generally associate with sparkle and glitter so when Darlene sent these to me, I was intrigued. The formulation of this collection is unique in my eyes. Darlene calls these cremelies. They have that squishy/juicy look of a crelly but smooth buttery application of a creme! Absolute perfection! Let’s just say I liked these so much I bought the brand’s spring collection right after haha.

This collection is one of five (Rock Candy, Conversation Starters, Citrus Trio & Fantasea Trio) that debuted at the Polish & Beauty Expo last week. If you missed the expo, you can purchase these from the Sweet & Sour Lacquer website starting on July 28th. Feel free to use my affiliate code, SweetNicole10 to save an extra 10% on your order.

Much like the other S&S blog posts going up right now, I didn’t write detailed notes as I wasn’t sure if blog posts would be going up for these. No surprise to anyone, all of these applied like a dream however they do need 2-3 coats to build up depending on the color and personal preference.

If you would like to see live application of these, check out my PBE livestream! The of so amazing Manicentric has a video up for this release if livestreams aren’t your thing.

Sweet & Sour Lacquer is a US based indie brand. Their polishes are in 15ml bottles, 5 free and cruelty free.

Calories Don’t Count

My photos show Calories Don’t Count in 3 coats plus glossy top coat. If you don’t mind some slight VNL, coverage is pretty good in 2 coats.

Ocean Breeze

Ocean Breeze was the sheerest of the collection. It’s the only polish from the bunch that I would say is likely to be a solid 3 coater. At first, I thought it was like a Tiffany blue but it is more aqua and less green than that shade.

My photos show Ocean Breeze in 3 coats plus glossy top coat.

Summer Soundtrack

Summer Soundtrack is such a fun darker bubblegum pink. It’s bright yet muted all at the same time.

The formula and application were both the same creme/crelly formulation and buttery smooth application.

My photos show Summer Soundtrack in 2 coats plus glossy top coat.

Windows Down, Radio Up

Windows Down, Radio Up I love how bright yet light this polish is. I would describe the color as a bright cornflower blue.

My photos show Windows Down, Radio Up in 3 coats plus glossy top coat. I feel like this skirts the line between being a 2-3 coater. I used very thin coats so I needed a third coat for a few fingers.

Final Thoughts

I tend to be a little picky about my creme formulations. It’s rare that I can get down with a 3 coater. The only real exception for me is when the color makes my heart happy that I don’t care for doing the extra coat.

Since these aren’t true cremes, they’re cremelies remember?, I give them a pass on being 2-3 coaters. I also really really love the colors. I feel like on paper, with the exception of Windows Down, Radio Up, these aren’t colors that I would have thought that I would love. But man oh man are the colors beautiful.

Like I mentioned in the intro to this post, I liked these enough and was also curious about how they compared to the Spring Cleaning cremes by the brand that I purchased that release. None are dupes but if you’re curious I have comparisons up on my livestream.

My top pick without a doubt is Windows Down, Radio up. I’m pretty sure that’s going to be my next pedicure color.
