Hello gaming fans! Today I have swatches for the August Polished Gamers Box. I am so freaking excited about this month’s Polished Gamers Box. Why do you ask? Because we finally have a month where I can say that I know the characters behind the inspirations!
While I am not the biggest Legend Of Zelda fan ever, I am somewhat familiar with the series as a whole. Admittedly, Breath Of The Wild is the only main Zelda game I ever really loved. I have over 200 hours played in BoTW. ANYWAY, the August PGB opens on the 15th and full sale details will be at the end of this post.
The Polished Gamers Box aka PGB is a monthly collaboration between handmade indie brands. Each month has a different theme and themes are always related to video games. Items available range from nail polish to wax melts to stamping plates and even jewelry!

BCB Lacquers – You Are The Light
Inspiration: Zelda from Breath of the Wild.
Description: A multi-chrome polish shifting from a bright magenta/orange/gold with green micro flakes and a touch of holo. You may pick up hints of green shifts at extreme angles.
Price: $13 for 16.5ml Cap: 150 bottles
You Are The Light had a fantastic formula. This polish was so freaking GORGEOUS in person! I mostly just saw the magenta to orange to gold color shifts. I feel like I saw a hint of green at very extreme angles but I couldn’t get it photographed for the life of me. The holo sparkle is delicate but would look amazing in the sunlight.
BCB Lacquers has a way of making very opaque shimmers/multichromes so this one will probably be a 1-2 coater on pretty much everyone. I used 2 coats for my photos. I used 3 coats on my middle naWhile I didn’t experience any staining. Since this is so opaque, I would highly recommend wearing a base coat.

Color Spectrum Polish – Shadows in the Dark
Inspiration: Dark Link
Description: A black linear holo with lots of red holo glitter.
Price: $12 for 13ml Cap: 50
Shadows in the Dark had a great formula. It didn’t feel overly thick or thin and I didn’t have any application issues. This starts off sheer but builds up really well. The holographic in this is very strong! I found under normal lighting situations, this looks like a very dark grey or black.
This will be a 2-3 coater depending on nail length. I used 3 coats for my photos. This dries a little dull but not textured. The glitters are small enough that they shouldn’t make removal too difficult.

NeVerMind Apothecary – The Blight
Inspiration: Blight Ganon
Description: A black to red multichrome with blue/purple multichrome flakes
Price: $12.50 for 15ml Cap: 200
The Blight had a great jelly like formula. It was slightly on the thinner side but it didn’t feel watery. The polish did seem to want to run down the stem of the brush but I didn’t have an issue with it running on my nail.
The multichrome pigment in this shifts from a dark greyish black to burgundy to red to orange to gold. The flakies spread out evenly on their own and do not dry textured.
This starts off on the sheer side so you will want to build it up. If you don’t have much of a free edge, this will be a 2 coater. Longer mails will want to go in for 3 coats to cover VNL. I used 3 coats for my photos.

Night Owl Lacquer – Release Date??!!
Inspiration: The trailer for the Breath of the Wild sequel and the anticipation for a release date announcement.
Description: this is black jelly with blue/aqua/green iridescent glitter and holographic micro flakies.
Price: $12 for 15ml Cap: NONE
Release Date??!! had a great formula. It starts off sheer but builds up nicely. The glitters spread out evenly and I didn’t need to do anything special to get great glitter payoff.
This will be a 2-3 coater depending on nail length. I used 3 coats for my photos. This is sheer enough that it can be used as a topper, if you don’t mind the base slightly changing your base color. I can’t remember why I chose to swatch this over black on my thumbnail but I did. As per usual, I used Heather’s Hues Shadow.
As someone who is also waiting on a release date for Breath Of The Wild 2, I LOVE the inspo for this polish!

Red Eyed Lacquer- Zelda To The Past
Inspiration: Zelda
Description: A white crelly with pink, purple, gold and blue metallic flakies.
Price: $12.50 for 15ml Cap: 100
Zelda To The Past Had a great crelly formula. The flakies look so pretty in the white base! They do not dry down textured and spread out evenly.
This does seem to dry slightly more sheer than it applies. The white base goes on pretty streak free. To reach full opacity I used 3 coats for my photos. Shorter nails might be good in two coats.
This polish reminds me of Disney Princesses for some reason. I was so inspired by this polish I wanted to do some nail art!

Sweet And Sweet – Kaysa The Great
Inspiration: Kaysa, one of the Great Fairies
Description: A light pink crelly with gold metallic flakies and shimmer
Price: $12.50 for 15ml Cap: 75
Kaysa The Great had a great formula. It went on very easily and was surprisingly opaque. The flakies all spread out evenly and easily on their own without needing to do anything special.
This polish should be opaque in 2-3 coats depending on application and nail length. I used 3 coats for my photos.
This polish reminds me of China Glaze Wish On A Starfish. Which is my all time favorite nail polish in the world. So obviously, I really love this one! This is like a flakie non textured polish version to that.
