Hi friends! Oh my gosh, I am so freaking excited to share this nai polish collection with you all today! Today I am sharing the OPI x Barbie collection! This is a limited edition release in collaboration with the upcoming Barbie movie!
I didn’t realize that I was really looking forward to this movie until like last week. I am not generally a Barbie girl but for some reason, the movie looks really fun? Or maybe I just love the color pink and y’all know Barbie = pink.

Best Day Ever
Best Day Ever we are starting out strong with a glitter! This was one of the colors that I was both excited for as well as a little concerned by the bottle. Frosty finish + glitter is always hit or miss with me, usually miss more than hit if we’re really being honest.
I am still conflicted about this one. The glitters are iridescent and pretty thin so they don’t give off a ton of texture. But since this is a frosty base, it looks more textured than it actually is.
I found the formula and application for this to be pretty great. Slightly on the thicker side but super easy application. No need to do any fishing or glitter placement for the glitters. The glitters also give off very minimal texture. One coat of top coat smoothed everything out nicely for me. However, due to the pearl base, the glitters look very textured despite not being so.
My photos show Best Day Ever in 3 coats plus glossy top coat. Best Day Ever has a very delicate look to it. If you don’t mind VNL, coverage is even in 2 coats. I liked this more in two coats than I did in three.
Removal won’t be the most difficult thing ever but due to the glitters, I wouldn’t recommend scrubbing this one off.
Bon Voyage To Reality
Bon Voyage To Reality was the color that I knew was going to be the least ‘me’ polish. It’s the palest of pale pinks, my least favorite of the pink.
I found the formula to be pretty streaky and uneven, which is to be expected with colors this light, which is one of the reasons why light pinks aren’t my favorite. It self leveled really nicely and other than the streakiness, it applied well.
Sadly despite floating my brush like a champ, I still had a lot of dark spots after 3 coats. Which is why I generally dislike pale pink nail polishes.

Every Night Is Girl’s Night
Every Night Is Girl’s Night I am not really sure if this is supposed to be a topper or a full coverage polish. There seems to be a mix of silver metallic glitter, silver holo glitters mixed into a pearlized/metallic base. I love that there are holographic glitters in here.
It can definitely be used as a topper in one coat but you might have to push the glitters around to get even coverage. I showed this as a topper over in my live swath video and to be honest, I am not a fan but I also am not a huge fan of pearl anything so YMMV. Since I opted to try to build this up, I didn’t need to do any glitter placement or manipulation for more even coverage.
I will be honest, I hate how this looks in 3 coats. I really liked it in 2 coats but I wanted to see if I could get some more opacity out of it. Sadly I feel like in 3 coats, it just looks…. chunky? Which is funny since the glitters aren’t super textured at all! One coat of top coat smoothed everything out perfectly.

Feel The Magic!
Feel The Magic! I love this shade of pink! It’s a perfect bubble gum pink.
Its formula was pretty good it self levleed nicely but did seem to apply pretty streakily. I found I needed a third coat to even out those streaks, even with floating my brush.

Hi Barbie
Hi Barbie I love this shade of pink! It’s bright but slightly dark at the same time.
The formula felt a bit on the thicker side but it self leveled nicely. The thickness could have been due to the high humidity level in my house.
The coverage was ok, I found I had a few dark spots in 2 coats and I went back and forth on if I wanted to add a third coat or not. I erred on the side of caution and did end up adding a third coat to my pointer finger and middle nail as those were the worst offenders of dark spots.

Hi Ken
Hi Ken as soemone who absolutely LOVES yellows, I was really surprised by this addition to the collection. I was also surprised that the Ken polish wasn’t blue?
The formula and application were what I expected from a yellow creme. So you know, very streaky and a 3 coater. I would reccomend trying to float your coats on and not overworking this if you relaly want to try to get it opaque in two coats.
For me, I had enough dark spots in two cats that I knew that I wouldn’t be happy with it without adding a third coat. I want to note that my photos make this look a tiny bit brighter than it was in person. It’s not a pastel yellow but it’s both kind of light and bright at the same time. I had a really hard time trying to show the light but brightness of it.

My Job Is Beach
My Job Is Beach is such a fun blue shade. It’s very much the color that I would think of as a Ken color. It’s a bright summery sky blue shade.
Coverage was pretty good but not quite a one coater. I reached full opacity in 2 coats.

Welcome To Barbie Land
Welcome To Barbie Land this is like a shimmery version to the hot pink we saw previously. I feel like it skirts the line between being a pearl and shimmer. I am going to call it a shimmer solely because there aren’t any brush strokes.
This one starts off fairly sheer so you will need to build it up to get the most opacity. You will still have some VNL with in in 3 coats. The shimmer doesn’t dry textured and removal will be easy but messy.

If you were thinking this looks familiar, it is kind of similar to Spring Break The Internet from this year’s spring collection. The base color is darker and Spring Break The Internet has a blue toned shimmer, whereas this one has a pink shimmer.
Yay Space!
Yay Space is an incredibly pale blue pearly shimmer. Like the previous polish, you’re going to want to build this one up to get the most opacity.
As someone who doesn’t generally love icy or pearly polishes, this was one of my least favorites from the collection. I did have some VNL with it in 3 coats so if you hate seeing your nail line, this might not be the one for you.

Final Thoughts
After how much I disliked OPI’s summer collection from this year, I was really hoping that this collection would be amazing. And thankfully it was! I loved the color story. I honestly expected a collection of nothing but pinks but 5 out of 9 isn’t bad one bit.
I do wish there was a smidge more glitter involved in the collection and a dash less frosty/pearlized polishes but that’s just me being a glitter lover.
My top picks are going to be Hi Barbie, Hi Ken, My Job Is Beach and Best Day Ever.
