OPI Hello Kitty 50th Anniversary Swatches and Review
Purchased, affiliate links used
Howdy friends! Today I am sharing some swatches of a new upcoming collection from OPI. For Hello Kitty’s 50th Anniversary, OPI is giving us this fun limited edition release. I believe this is the third OPI and Hello Kitty collection.
I purchased all of these from a seller on eBay but it is starting to pop up online at places like Amazon and Ulta. I just saw it pop up at Beyond Polish, feel free to use my affiliate code NicoleLovesNails to save 10% off the collection and entire website. OPI is also sold at Walmart and Target.

OPI is a US based mainstream brand. Their polishes are in 15ml bottles and 3 free.
Big Celebration
Description: Embrace the festivities with a dazzling glitter red-pink hue, enhanced by a shimmering white base. This shade is all about fun and excitement.
Big Celebration I am not 100% sure if this is a topper or a “full coverage” polish. It works either way as long as you don’t mind VNL on its own.
My photos show Big Celebration in 3 coats on its own and in 1 coat over a hot pink creme.
Follow Your Heart
Description: Stand out with this vibrant fluorescent magenta. It’s a bold, passionate color that encourages you to follow your dreams and your heart.
Follow Your Heart This was a little bit streaky but not too bad of a formula.
My photos show Follow Your Heart in 2 coats but I think this one is a 2-3 coater. I can see a little bit of uneveness in photos but I don’t recall seeing that in person.
Hello Kitty, Hello Pretty
Description: Capture the essence of Hello Kitty with this bright red shade, reminiscent of her iconic bow, with a shimmering finish. It’s bold, bright, and beautiful.
Hello Kitty, Hello Pretty this is the shade of red that I think of when I think of Hello Kitty’s bow! I think this polish either has really small flakies or really large particle shimmer in it.
My photos show Hello Kitty, Hello Pretty in 2 coats plus glossy top coat. I did have a little bit of VNL but coverage was even and I liked how it looked in two.
Hello Kindness
Description: a leaf green shade, enhanced with blue shimmer
Hello Kindness I adore how ugly this shade of green is! It feels very 1970s avocado green or in this case, I assume this is supposed to be keroppi green. The formula did leave some things to be desired but it wasn’t too bad.
The biggest disappointment in this polish was the shimmer looked so pretty in the bottle but was barely visible on the nail.
My photos show Hello Kindness in 3 coats plus glossy top coat.
Let’s Be Friends Forever
Description: a glittery, shimmery pearl shade
Let’s Be Friends Forever is another one that I am not 100% sure if it’s supposed to be a “full coverage” polish or a topper. Surprisingly, I like it more on its own than as a topper. It’s more a shimmer than a pearl in my opinion.
My photos show Let’s Be Friends Forever in 3 coats on its own and 1 coat over a navy blue creme.
Supercute Color
Description: a pastel purple shade featuring a blue shimmer
Supercute Color the shimmer in here is very glowly. formula wasn’t bad, a little bit streaky but that’s no unexpected for such a light color.
little bit of vnl
My photos show Supercute Color in 3 coats plus glossy top coat.
Final Thoughts
When I purchased this collection, I had expected it to be all cremes with one or two shimmers/pearls so the fact that we got a bit more diversity in finish out of the collection made me pretty happy. I was also very happy to see that the limited edition caps on these are printed on and not that paper situation that was going on with last year’s Barbie collection.
Formulas wise, these are pretty decent. I feel like Hello Kindness and Follow Your Heart in particular could have been better but they weren’t bad either. I feel like this being a 6 piece collection is both a good thing as well as a bad. I wish there was more color diversity from the shades as I feel like we see colors like these from OPI fairly regularly. The first Hello Kitty collection had such a fun color story and I kinda compare all of the Hello Kitty collections to that one because it was so fun.
All in all, not a bad collection but I don’t see this being my top OPI collection of the year either.
My top pick from this collection is going to be Hello Kindness. I love weird greens!
