Hello nail friends! Today’s blog post is for the newest collection from Olive Ave Polish! I have their Flora collection for Spring 2021. This is a continuation of last year’s release. This is a 6 piece collection that is available now on the Olive Ave Polish website. These all had amazing formulas and that’s coming from me who usually dislikes pastel cremes! I have a live swatch video up now on my YouTube channel. As always, links to purchase will be at the end of this post.

Cactus Flower
Description: a muted purple with a strong pink shimmer
Cactus Flower had a fantastic formula. It didn’t feel thick or thin and I had 0 application issues. I think the only type of color combo I love more than pinks with gold shimmer are purples with PINK shimmer! The shimmer doesn’t show brush strokes and doesn’t overpower the base color.
This vaguely reminded me of China Glaze’s Get It Right, Get It Bright. This is darker in color and the shimmer particles are smaller.
Flora
Description: a pearl topper that adds a rainbow to any shade
Flora had a great formula. Not too thick or thin. The colors I was seeing the most in person were cyan, blue and purple. It is just slightly brush strokey so keep an eye when applying your final coat. I liked this both as a topper and on its own in 3 coats. On it’s own, you will have some VNL but I think it looks amazing this way. I found as a topper, you get more of that pearl effect.
I used it in 1 coat over the cremes in this collection.
Lilac
Description: a true lilac cream balanced between purple and blue
Lilac had a great formula. It felt slightly on the thinner side of normal but by no means watery. It is SO buttery smooth, I was very impressed with the formula! It self leveled like a dream! This is the perfect shade of a pastel lilac color. I used 2 coats for my photos.
Peony
Description: a pale pink cream
Peony had a great formula. It felt slightly thicker than Lilac but I didn’t have any application issues. Out of all of the cremes, I found this one behaved the most similarly to a pastel polish. It didn’t like being overworked which is more of a user error than a formula one. It wasn’t a difficult or tricky application but it was the only polish in this release that I definitely needed 3 coats for.
Sage
Description: a soft muted sage green with a strong silver shimmer
Sage had a wonderful formula. This also had a smooth and buttery application. The silver shimmer gives this an almost antique look on the nail.
This should be a 2 coater for most people. I had just a tiny bit of transparency on my tips so I used 3 coats.
Zinnia
Description: a classic light green cream perfect for spring
Zinnia had a great formula. In my notes my exact wording was “freakishly good formula!!” This applies buttery smooth and self levels really well. I was surprised that I liked this color as much as I did. Pastel greens don’t usually do anything for me but I really liked this one.
This will be a 2-3 coater depending on application. I had some nails that were good in 2 and others that needed 3. I used 3 coats for my photos.

Final Thoughts
I went into swatching this collection prepared to be a little underwhelmed. My own personal preferences do NOT lean towards pastel cremes. Well, the formulas on these pretty much solved my biggest issues with pastel cremes. They applied SO smoothly which I am coming to find is just the norm for polishes by this brand. My top picks would be Cactus Flower, Lilac and Flora.
