Hi friends! It is incredible to me that we are already halfway through 2023. I also just realized today that I have posted 400 blog posts over here already! This post is actual blog post #401. My 3 year blog-iversary was last month and it all feels so surreal!
Speaking of surreal, today’s post is for the new summer 2023 collection from Night Owl Lacquer. It feels like we just had the spring collection the other day? But you know, I am never mad at having beautiful summer inspired nail polishes to share.
This collection launches on Saturday June 10th on the Night Owl Lacquer website. I do have an affiliate link for the NOL website, feel free to use if you would like to pick these up. As always, more sale information can be found at the end of the post. Thank you to Night Owl Lacquer for sponsoring today’s post!

Cloud Gazing
Description: a bright blue filled with pink/orange/yellow/green micro flakie shimmer and white matte glitters
Cloud Gazing had a fantastic formula. I love love LOVE this shade of blue! The shimmer looks beautiful with it and the glitters are a nice touch.
The formula was a little bit on the thicker side but overall very easy to work with. The matte glitters do seem to sink a little bit in the bottle so make sure to give this a really good shake before using. Those glitters don’t dry down super textured so one coat of top coat seemed to smooth everything out nicely.
My photos show Cloud Gazing in 3 coats plus glossy top coat. This will be a 2-3 coater depending on your personal preference. I found the third coat deepens the base color slightly as well as adding some opacity. Removal will be a bit more difficult due to the glitters, use the soak off method for the easiest removal.
For some reason, this reminded me of Cap Of A Toadstool from the Potion Ingredients Vol 3 collection. The two polishes aren’t really terribly similar other than both having white glitters.
Humid Hair, Don’t Care
Description: a magenta filled with green/cyan/blue/violet glowy shimmer
Humid Hair, Don’t Care this polish is so dang pretty! Out of all of the polishes in the release, this was the one I was least impressed with based on the bottle. Which is dumb on my part because I love magenta bases.
I was pleasantly surprised at how opaque it was for me. I only needed 2 coats for my swatches. On top of having super color shifty shimmer, there is also some holographic pigment in here.
My photos show Humid Hair, Don’t Care in 2 coats plus glossy top coat. You will want top coat to give this a glossy finish. Nothing will dry down textured and removal will be easy but messy.
Peach Out
Description: a bleached neon peach filled with iridescent rainbow shifting flakes
Peach Out neon season is never complete without a neon peach! The formula on this one was fantastic. I was surprised by how even the coverage is. If you are the kind of person who likes sheer washes of color, this will be something fun to play around with in just one coat.
The flakies all spread out very evenly and easily without any texture. I fully expected to need to build this one up in 3 coats but I loved coverage on me in just 2 coats. I do think if your nails are longer than mine, you will likely want to go in for a third coat to cover up VNL.
My photos show Peach Out in 2 coats plus glossy top coat. Removal will be easier than a glitter but harder than a creme.
Sun-Kissed
Description: a clear base filled with bronze reflective glitter pigment and fuschia/orange/gold shifting large particle shimmer
Sun-Kissed the shimmer in this polish was so stinking pretty! As someone who is a huge fan of NOL’s clear based polishes with flakies and reflective glitter. I was a little disappointed by Sun-Kissed, at first, that it wasn’t a flakie + glitter combo polish. However, the shimmer in here is so right up my alley and it pairs really well with the reflective glitter colors.
The polish itself doesn’t feel super thick despite the reflective glitters. You do need to build it up to get more opacity since the base is clear. Because of the base being clear, you can wear this as a topper, in 2 coats for a sheerer look or built up in 3 coats for full opacity. I opted to go in for 2 coats so I did have a little bit of VNL. I show this used as a topper in my live swatch video if you’re curious!
The reflective glitters do give this quite a bit of texture. You’ll likely want to go in for at least 2 coats of top coat to smooth everything out. I used 1 coat of the Salon Perfect Glitter Gloss before 1 coat of the Night Owl Lacquer top coat. That combination smoothed everything out nicely for me.
My photos show Sun-Kissed in 2 coats plus 2 coats of top coat. Removal will be a beast if you attempt to scrub this one off. PLEASE use the soak off method or a peel off base coat to save yourself some stress.
Final Thoughts
I am sure it is a surprise to no one that I loved this collection. I can’t think of the last time that I didn’t love a Night Owl Lacquer collection. I really appreciate that we had a smaller collection with each polish having a different finish.
I think my only complaint is that we only got one neon. However, as someone who actively hates photographing neons, I am also relieved that one neon was in this release.
I am struggling with deciding which of these is going to be my favorite. I love them all for different reasons. If you twist my arm, I think I will go with Peach Out and that is just because I want to use that as my next pedicure color.
Let me know down in the comment section which one of the polishes was your favorite!
