Hi friends! Today’s video is for the newest collection from Holo Taco. This is the One Coat Chrome collection. As someone who doesn’t generally love chromatic/metallic finishes, I wasn’t too sure what to expect with these.
Along with this release, Holo Taco also came out with a new quick dry base coat. They recommend using that base with these polishes. For all of my swatches, I used the quick dry base coat and no top coat as per the brand’s recommendations without adding any top coat.
The One Coat Chrome collection is available right now on the Holo Taco website. As always, links are at the end of the post. Thank you to Holo Taco for sending me this release!

Holo Taco is a US based nail polish brand. Their polishes are in 12ml bottles, 10 free, cruelty-free, and vegan.
Aquafoil
Description: a chrome formula in a turquoise shade.
Aquafoil had a great formula. It was slightly on the thicker side, but what I expected for one coat polish.
This was the polish that I expected to like the most in the release. I like the shade of turquoise this polish is but I couldn’t get over my general dislike of chrome/metallic finishes to love this one.
My photos shoe Aquafoil in 1 coat without any top coat.
Iron Violet
Description: chrome formula in a cool purple shade.
Iron Violet also had a great formula that was slightly on the thicker side. I found application very easy nonetheless.
Oddly enough, this one was the second polish in the release that I thought maybe that I would like. Once again, the shade of purple is nice but the finish isn’t for me.

Pink Steel
Description: a chrome formula in a pale pink shade.
Pink Steel also had a great formula. This shade of pink just screams Easter pastel to me.
The pastel pink + chrome finish made me dislike it though. I can see this polish being a big hit with people.

Trophy Life
Description: a chrome formula in a pale yellow-gold shade
Trophy Life had a great formula. It was slightly on the thicker side but essentially the same level as all of the polishes in this release. Application was very easy and I didn’t have any issues
As someone who loves gold metallic polishes, I feel the shade of gold in this one was just a hair too pale for me.
My photos show Trophy Life in 1 coat without any top coat.
World’s First
Description: a chrome formula in a bright silver shade.
World’s First had the same formula and application style as all of the other polishes in this release.
This polish gives serious Tin Man vibes. It’s basically liquid aluminum foil on your nails. I was very surprised that I actually liked how it looked!

Final Thoughts
I knew once Cristine said that this collection was going to be chrome/metallic finishes that chances were very high that I wasn’t going to love them. I just don’t like chrome finishes. I’m sorry!
I hate how chromes show off every single imperfection on your nails. My natural nails have a lot of ridges and even with the new quick dry base, they would show up very obviously. And as you can tell by my photos, my overlay wasn’t exactly perfect either haha.
I like that Holo Taco has introduced a new finish to their lineup, even if I don’t personally like it. I feel like chrome nails come back into popularity every few years so clearly there are a lot of people who like it.
If you want to pick up this collection without grabbing the new base coat. That is doable, just know that you have to make sure that your base coat is very dry or else your nails will dent. You can also top coat these, I did some testing with Essie’s Gel Setter top coat. That top coat doesn’t mess with the chrome and gives the polishes are beautiful glossy finish.
And just a heads-up, chrome without any top coat does not wear well long term. I had Iron Violet on my Cindy hand yesterday while I was doing my housework. By the end of the day, I had tip wear and chips on my middle nail. I usually get at least 5 days without chips on that hand.
My top pick from this release is going to be World’s First.
