Hey friends! Falloween is in full swing and I am happy that Holo Taco is taking part in the festivities this year! Today I have their Twisted Sister Duo plus 3 Halloween inspired polishes.
Sadly at the time of posting, 3 of these polishes are currently sold out. Some of them will be restocked so as always, links and more sale details can be found at the end of the post.
Also just a reminder, there’s only a few hours left to participate in my giveaway! Check out this post for more information!

Double Dare
Description: a black-to-red multichrome base, scattered holographic microflakes and red reflective glitters.
Double Dare had a good formula. It was on the thicker side but not unusually so for a reflective glitter polish. I didn’t love application of this polish with the skinny brush it came with so after doing my first coat, I swapped out the brush with a KBShimmer replacement paddle brush.
The multichrome base starts off a little sheer so you will want to build it up for the most opacity. I found coverage okay in 2 coats but if you want to cover up VNL completely, a third coat will be needed.
The holographic in here was super holo and looked gorgeous both indoors and out. I found the reflective glitters were super sparkly and I was able to see the red reflects out in the sun. I feel like the holo was really the star of the show as far as out in the sunlight but that’s just my opinion.
This polish does dry down with some texture. Found that it smooths out fairly ok with a thick coat of glossy top coat but I did opt to pair it with a glitter smoothing top coat for my swatches.
My photos show Double Dare in 3 coats plus 2 coats of glossy top coat. Removal will be on the more difficult (and messy) side if you decide to scrub this one off.
Favourite Sister
Description: Metallic polish with foil flakes and scattered holographic pigment in a bright red base
Favorite Sister had a beautiful formula. I didn’t have any problems with the application. I found the shade of red for this polish gave me some serious holiday vibes.
This was my first time trying the Frosted Metals formula and I will say it does look a lot better in person than in photographs. The flakes have a lot of dimension that is hard to pick up in photo/video form. Which is why I have so many final photos btw.
The flakes all spread out very evenly without giving off any texture. One coat of top coat seals them in and gives everything a nice shine. I swatched this polish in 3 coats plus glossy top coat.
Removal won’t be overly difficult but it will be extremely messy, these flakes LOVE to stick to your skin/nails. I would recommend soaking this polish off or using a peel off base coat.
Fun fact: my husband told me this polish is pink. PINK! *smacks forehead*
Oh My Gourd
Description: a bright orange creme polish
Oh My Gourd had a wonderful formula. If you have tried any of the Holo Taco cremes, this applies just like those usually do. So it was slightly on the thicker side but not in a way that I found application difficult.
As someone who loves pumpkin orange shades, yeah I loved this polish. I am still in shock that Holo Taco didn’t have a single true orange shade in their creme lineup! This one works perfectly.
I did find that this polish made my hands look extremely warm toned/orangey in photos. My photos show Oh My Gourd in 2ish coats plus glossy top coat. I had one nail that needed a third coat due to my application. I think this will likely be a solid 2 coater.
Resting Witch Face
Description: a Vivid cool-toned purple creme
Resting Witch Face had a fantastic formula. It starts off a little sheer but it builds up really nicely. I found it funny how similar in both application and color this polish is to Holo Taco’s I’m Live. The undertones between the two are different.
Do you need both? Asking someone who owns thousands of bottles of nail polish to tell you if you need two slightly different purples probably isn’t the best thing to go on. But you’re here so I will say, yeah. Similar not the same. I especially like that the brand did this since I’m Live is a limited edition.
Coverage for this polish was really good in 2 coats. I will fully admit that I was very committed to only swatching Resting Witch Face in 2 coats. To be honest, I probably could have benefited from a third coat as I did have some light spots toward the tips of my nails.
My photos show Resting Witch Face in 2 coats plus glossy top coat.
And here is a comparison between Resting Witch Face and I’m Live.
Glow In The Dark Taco
Description: a glow in the dark topper
Glow In The Dark Taco had a great formula. I did notice some pigment specks in my bottle that ended up on my nails. Those are the little dots in my swatches. The base didn’t feel overly thick or thin though.
Aside from the specks, I didn’t have any issues with this topper. I heard in the brand owner’s live stream that this topper looks best over white. So I swatched it in 1 coat over Night Owl Lacquer‘s Ya Basic White (I couldn’t find my bottle of Not Milky White, turns out I left it on my desk).
One thing I really liked about this topper is that it charges up from a variety of light sources. I found it charged up nicely from both normal light bulbs and sunlight/UV light. I always use a blacklight flashlight for my swatches but I didn’t *need* to use one for my swatches.
I’m not the biggest fan of glow in the dark polishes as they kinda freak me out. I always forget that I am wearing one and then get a surprise/shock/moment of panic when I go to bed and see my nails glowing.
While this polish is a topper, I do recommend pairing it with a glossy top coat as it dries down a little satin-y.
Because I was curious, I also swatched this over a couple of other Holo Taoc cremes. Light colors will be your best bet with this one. If you would like to see this over black, check out my live swatch video. My photos with this topper over black didn’t come out right so I scrapped the photos.
Final Thoughts
I thought this release was really fantastic. I am really happy that Holo Taco finally came out with an orange creme polish! I feel like the past couple of releases have been adding colors that were blank spots in the current lineup.
I am still surprised that I liked Favorite Sister as much as I did as I am not generally a red polish kinda gal. The Frosted Metals formula really is great and I can’t wait to try more of those.
I think if I was going to pick favorites, I would go with Double Dare as I am a sucker for black to red multichromes!
