[Press Samples – Post Disclosure Page]
Holo there friends! Today’s blog post is for the newest release from Holo Taco. The inspiration for this collection was a surprise for me. I have followed Simply Nailogical on YouTube for long enough to know that she is not a coffee fan. So Holo Taco releasing a coffee inspired collection made me chuckle!
Not to spoil my review but I do think this one is my favorite from the other coffee collections (China Glaze I Don’t Give A Sip and Zoya’s Cafe Creams) that I swatched the past few months. Which isn’t that big of a surprise since this one is nothing but holographic flakies!
All of the polishes today are the exact same finish, which the brand is calling ‘crushed holographic’. Indie polish loving folks, these are dense holo flakie formula. So you get all of the BOOM POW of glitter, just without the texture or difficult removal.
At the time of posting, all but 1 one of the polishes are still available but don’t fret! This is not a limited edition release and everything that sells out will be restocked in the future.
Live Swatch Video
Holo Taco is a US based nail polish brand. Their polishes are in 12ml bottles, 10 free, cruelty-free, and vegan.
Oat Couture
Description: a crushed holographic formula in an cool ivory shade
Oat Couture had a fantastic formula. I thought with shade being so light, that it would be fairly streaky. It was not streaky, and the holographic flakes popped very nicely from the base.
Coverage was surprisingly good for a jelly polish. I did need three coats to reach full opacity but if you have significantly shorter nails than me, specifically without a free edge, I could see this being a two coater.
One thing I want to note, I noticed when I was recording my live swatches, that this polish seemed to dry a little but slower than the other polishes. Make sure to pair this with a good quality quick dry top coat to make sure everything dries down as it should.
My photos show Oat Couture in 3 coats plus glossy top coat. The polish does dry down dull so you will want top coat for a glossy finish.
Blushed Ice
Description: Crushed holographic formula in a light blush peach shade
Blushed Ice had a good but thinner formula. I was honestly surprised at how much this one ran down the stem of my brush. Usually, I find Holo Taco polishes to be on the thicker side but this one wasn’t. It wasn’t so thin that it was watery though.
This polish starts off very sheer, I think it is likely that it would be a solid 3 coater to reach full opacity. The holo flakies looked amazing in this base color.
This one is not the color for me but I can appreciate how nice it looks paired with the flakies.

Holo Cappuccino
Description: Crushed holographic formula in a medium brown shade
Holo Cappuccino had an excellent formula. This was a lot sheerer than I had expected but it build up nicely.
I love the shade of brown. It brought out all of the warm tones in my skin. Which usually, I don’t generally love when polishes make my hands look red but for this shade, I didn’t mind!
I think this one is another polish that is likely to be a 3 coater. You don’t really get the depth of color in two coats that you see in the bottle.
My photos show Holo Cappuccino in 3 coats plus glossy top coat. I had a tiny bit of VNL with this one in 3 coats. As with all of the other polishes, you will want top coat for a glossy finish.
Need I Say Mocha?
Description: Crushed holographic formula in a deep mocha brown shade
Need I Say Mocha? also had an excellent formula. There weren’t any real differences between this shade and the previous one.
I really like the subtle differences between Need I Say Mocha? And Holo Cappuccino. Need I Say Mocha is more cool toned (on me at least) and just a hair darker. I love the base color on this one in particular.

Espresso Your Holo
Description: Crushed holographic formula in a dark brown espresso shade
Espresso Your Holo had a fantastic formula. This was the color that I was most excited for and it didn’t disappoint. It does start off fairly sheer which for the 5th time, is not surprising.
Also, one more time, if you have any kind of free edge and want the polish to look as it does in the bottle, you will want to build this one up in 3 coats.
This is a very dark brown, personally, it was not so dark that I found that it looked black in low lighting. However, I think on a lighter skin tone that it might. I asked my husband what color it was and he was able to tell that it wasn’t quite black.

Big ol comparison
I wanted to do a big old comparison of colors for all of the recent coffee inspired collections. Zoya’s color story is probably the least true coffee colored (as far as I know, I am not an expert in anyway on coffee but I am assuming purple and orangey tan aren’t coffee colors).
Like I already said, this collection is probably my favorite but I am a sucker for holographic anything.
If you missed the other coffee collections, click here for Zoya’s and click here for China Glaze.
Final Thoughts
So initially when I swatched these polishes, I had also purchased them as I didn’t know that I was getting them in PR. The PR box arrived on Monday and my purchased one arrived Saturday.
So when I bought them, I knew that the lighter colors weren’t going to be for me. While that was very true, I do see the appeal even if the colors aren’t ones that I would pick out for myself. I am hesitant to call these nudes but I do think these shades would work as nudes on a variety of skin tones. I feel like Holo Taco hasn’t ever released colors that could be called nudes?
I was really happy that these were all very holographic indoors. It was raining when I was swatching them so natural light shots sadly weren’t on the menu.
My top picks in this release are going to be Espresso Your Holo, Holo Cappuccino and Need I Say Mocha?
