[Press Samples – Post Disclosure Page]
Hey friends! Wow, this week really flew by! I feel like June only just started and now it’s the first day of July. Just wow.
Today’s blog post is for some new releases from Heather’s Hues. I have their July duo plus their Polish Pickup Rewind shades. For the duo, the theme this month is Wild Card. If you are new around here, each month Heather asks members of her Facebook group to submit photos following a theme and later vote on the photos for her to turn into nail polish!
As far as Polish Pickup goes, in short, it is a monthly indie collaboration. For July, makers get to bring back 2 polishes. One polish for the Polish Pickup website and the other for the maker’s website.
All of the polishes mentioned in today’s post are available right now. As always, sale details and links can be found at the end of the post.
Live Swatch Video
Heather’s Hues is a US based indie brand. Their polishes are in 15ml bottles, 5 free, cruelty free and vegan friendly.
Cosmic Cooldown
Description: a creamy light purple crelly filled with a mix of glitters in various shades of violet, turquoise, and pink, as well as pink and turquoise metallic flakes. It’s topped off with a sprinkle of baby pink star glitters!!
Cosmic Cooldown had a fantastic formula. The base starts off a little sheer but it builds up nicely. The glitters all spread out very evenly but do give off some texture.
I was amazed at the number of stars that I got out on the nail. Based on the bottle, I thought there would only be a lot less. While I did run this through my nail polish shaker prior to swatching, I didn’t need to fish for them, do glitter placement or hold the bottle upsidedown.
As I mentioned, the glitters do give this polish quite a bit of texture. If you aren’t overly picky, a thick coat of top coat will be passable. I chose to pair this with a glitter smoothing top coat before going in with my quick dry top coat.
I found the purple base in here looks like a different shade of purple depending on your lighting. It ranged from a light to medium purple to my eye. I tried getting photos of this in natural light but due to rain/low light, they came out really grainy. My live swatch video shows this in natural light.
I swatched Cosmic Cooldown in 3 coats plus both glossy and matte top coat. I prefer this one glossy. Removal is going to be on the more difficult side if you try to scrub it off. I used a peel off base coat.
Down by the Sea
Description:an ocean jelly base with a touch of blue-green shimmer and a mix of blue-teal iridescent flakes and lime-blue-gold and teal-blue-violet multichrome flakes
Down by the Sea also had a fantastic formula. This is a sheer jelly base so you will really want to build it up for the most opacity. The flakies and shimmer will distract from your visible nail line but it will still be very obvious.
All of the flakies spread out very evenly and easily without giving off any real texture. I got out a few larger flakies on my nails which I personally really enjoy. I would say the flakies are of the medium to large size on the nail.
This polish reminded me of Raptor Round Your Finger by China Glaze (review coming soon). The base colors between the two aren’t at all similar but I feel like the way the flakies behave in this polish is what China Glaze was trying to do with their polish.
My photos show Down By The Sea in 3 coats plus both glossy and matte top coats. I LOVE this polish with a matte top coat! Removal won’t be overly difficult but the flakies will be a little messy if you choose to scrub this polish off.
Polish Pickup Rewind Shades
Heather’s Hues is also taking part in Polish Pickup Rewind. On the Polish Pickup website, Opal Minded (the original review is over here) is available. This polish will only be available until Month July 4th. And on the Heather’s Hues website, Happy Happy, Joy Joy (original review) will be available for the entire month of July.

Final Thoughts
Once again, no surprised to anyone that I freaking loved this month’s duo. My stand out top pick is without a question Cosmic Cooldown. Heather’s Hues has one of my favorite indie glitter crelly formulas and the fact that it also has star shaped glitters? Yeah, can’t recommend that one enough!
However, I also really liked Down By The Sea. I am hard pressed not to like flakies in a teal jelly base.
