Heather’s Hues December Duo | Swatch and Review

Today’s blog post features the December monthly duo by Heather’s Hues! Each month the members of the Heather’s Hues Facebook fan group submit and vote on photos for Heather to recreate into nail polish. These polishes are not exclusive to the group but to vote, you will need to be a member. The theme for December was Wild Card. The December duo is available now! I will have all of the sale details plus links at the end of this post.

If you haven’t heard of this brand before, Heather’s Hues is a indie nail polish brand. Their polishes are handmade in the USA, 5 free, vegan, and cruelty free. Heather’s Hues also has a variety of other handmade items available, including my favorite lotion (WiTS), cuticle balm, and even wax melts! Heather’s Hues has been featured on my blog many many times. I currently own almost 200 of her polishes!

Disclaimer: I was sent these products as PR in exchange for photographs and an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own. My photos were taken indoors with daylight/LED bulbs and outdoors in natural light. I used the KB Shimmer glossy top coat and the Glisten & Glow matte top coat for each photo.

Wild Flowers

Description: a shimmer that shifts from pink to blue and is filled with iridescent flakes that shift from violet to pink to gold and blue to purple. This shimmer is sheer but its totally buildable and also can be used as a topper.

Wild Flowers had a wonderful formula. It is on the sheer side so it will work well as a topper but I like it on its own. The opacity makes it easy for the flakies and shimmer to really pop on the nail. The shimmer is very glowy! I didn’t notice any texture after adding top coat. I used 3 coats for my photos. I did have vnl but I think it will be less noticeable (but still there) on natural nails. I didn’t have any issues removing this with acetone.

Wild Nights

Description:  a black to colorless thermal packed with a strong green-turquoise-blue shimmer, a mix of multichrome and iridescent flakes in green-teal-blue-violet, and a kiss of holo flakes and sparkle.

Wild Nights also had a great formula. It went on almost like a jelly polish. I found it started changing to the warm state as I applied it. In the bottle, I didn’t realize that the shimmer in this was as color shifty as it looked on the nail.

At my desk, I was seeing a green to teal to blue and an almost purple at extreme angles. The warm state of this polish is listed as colorless but due to the shimmer, it will have color to it, if that makes sense. I found in some lighting it looked like a pale white with shimmer. The cold state is listed as black but I found that the shimmer would make it look green/teal/blue depending on the lighting. You will have VNL with this in the warm state but not in the cold. No issues removing with acetone.

My Thoughts

When I opened this package, I thought for sure Wild Flowers was going to be my favorite. It’s pinky purple, it’s got shimmer with flakies and that’s my jam! I usually reach for pinks more than blacks. However, I really liked Wild Nights! The shimmer, in my opinion, elevated it from an “Ooh pretty!” polish to a “WHOA LOOK AT THAT” polish. But I am a sucker for shifty shimmer. That said, I still can’t say which is my favorite this month. If you twisted my arm I’d say Wild Flowers because it’s pink based.

Sale Info

The December monthly duo is available now on the HeathersHues.com for $25 USD plus shipping. You can also purchase both polishes separately for $12.50 each. These polishes will be available for the entire month of December and will be replaced in January. At the time of posting, the November duo (reviewed here) is still available for purchase. I expect they won’t be for long though!

Heather also recently updated her website to have winter scents for all of her scented products plus Fluffer Butter (my favorite body butter) is back from retirement. During the winter months, I swear by using a layer of Fluffer Butter over a layer of WiTS on my hands before going outside. From the new winter scents, I personally recommend Believe In Magic. It smells fantastic and I’ve already ordered 3 jars of it in WiTS.
