Hey friends! Today I have the newest monthly duo from Heather’s Hues to share with you all. If you are new around here, each month Heather asks members of the Heather’s Hues fan group to submit photos following a theme for Heather to turn into limited edition nail polishes.
For August, the theme is Fur, Fins, & Feathers. The August duo is available right now on the Heather’s Hues website. At the time of posting, the July duo is also still available but won’t be for much longer. As always links and sale information can be found at the end of the blog post.

Heather’s Hues is a US based indie brand. Their polishes are in 15ml bottles, 5 free, cruelty free and vegan friendly.
Feathered Friend
Description: a bright green crelly kissed with a green-teal-gold shimmer and filled with glitters in turquoise, black, and neon green as well as teal metallic flakes and matte black microshreds.
Feathered Friend had a fantastic formula. The base color to my eye was like a pastel neon green crelly base. I found it photographed a touch lighter than it appeared in person so I did have to color correct my photos. I really love the color for this polish but ugh it didn’t want to photograph accurately at all.
This polish has a ton of different components in it but I didn’t find the base to feel overly thick or difficult to apply. I also didn’t find it difficult to apply or need to do anything special to get the glitters out.
My photos show Feathered Friend in 3 coats plus both glossy and matte top coats. The glitters/shreds do give off some slight texture. I opted to pair this Feathered Friend with a glitter smoothing top coat before going in with my quick dry top coat but I don’t know if that was 100% necessary.
Removal will be on the more difficult side if you opt to scrub this polish off. I paired it with a peel off base coat but soaking this off will also make for easy removal.
This polish gave me some serious Halloween but cute vibes hence the nail art. For my stamping plate, I used Uberchic Beauty’s Zombie Love 01. And for stamping polishes I used TwinkledT (use code NicoleLovesNails10 to save 10%) Subtweet (yellow), Bothered (hot pink), and Hit The Bottle Sparkling Cyan-ide.
Note: I didn’t do any color correcting for the nail art.
Glow Up
Description: a navy blue jelly base filled with a mix of iridescent, matte, and metallic glitters as well as flakes in various shades of turquoise, blue, and violet
Glow Up had a good formula. I did find that this polish was to be fairly thick so I did end up adding a couple of drops of thinner to it. I will note (like I have all summer) that it was fairly humid the day I was swatching so that might be the reason for my difficulties.
The base starts off a little sheer so you will want to build this one up to reach full opacity. I did have a *tiny* amount of VNL on the clear part of my nail but I found it was very slight.
The glitters all spread out very evenly and easily although they do dry down a little textured. Like Feathered Friend, I opted to pair this polish with a glitter smoothing top coat but I am not 100% sure if it was necessary.
Where the last polish gave me Halloween but cute vibes, this polish is ALL ocean vibes. This polish will work well for jelly sandwich nail art.
My photos show Glow Up in 3 coats plus both glossy and matte top coats. I think it will likely be a 2-3 coater depending on personal preference. However, to reach full opacity you will want to go in for 3 coats.
I would recommend soaking this polish off or using a peel off base coat for the easiest removal. I didn’t experience any staining with this polish but it does seem really pigmented.

Final Thoughts
I love it when Heather releases such glitter heavy polishes so no duh I loved this month’s duo! I’m sure what my top pick is going to be no surprise seeing how I actually did some nail art with it. Feathered Friend is definitely my favorite of these two.
I am currently typing this blog post away from home so I can’t check for dupes but Glow Up was reminding me of an older Heather’s Hues polish that I picked up last year in a destash. I am blanking on what it is called but when I get home I will get some side by side comparisons.
