Fandom Flakies is a monthly indie collaboration between Bee’s Knees Lacquer, Night Owl Lacquer and Ribbits Stickits. Each month has a guest maker, a new theme and polishes are exclusive to the box.
Bee’s Knees Lacquer – The Walls Will Ooze Green Slime
Description: a blackened green base with extra sparkly green to blue shimmer and holo flakes (A cousin to Lion With A Thorn)
The Walls Will Ooze Green Slime had a fantastic formula. The base is a super dark green that in most lighting will look black with a hint of green.
The shimmer is SUPER strong and very glowy. It doesn’t show any brush strokes and the color shifts were as described. This is one of the A Lion With A Thorn In Its Paw cousins. Meaning it has a strong shifty shimmer plus holo flakies. The color shifts are different from the Lion siblings but similar to the other Lion cousins.
This is one of those polishes where the base color isn’t really my thing but the shimmer effect totally is and that’s why I liked it. The holo flakies do not dry textured so you wil just want top coat for a glossy finish.
My photos show The Walls Will Ooze Green Slime in 3 coats plus both glossy and matte top coat. I did have a tiny amount of VNL with this on the clear part of my nail but I think that will be less pronounced for those of you with longer natural nails.
Removal will not be difficult but it will be messy.

Night Owl Lacquer – The Inner Machinations Of My Mind Are An Enigma
Description: a clear base filled with peach micro flakies, red/orange/peach/gold shifting micro flakie shimmer and holographic flecks
The Inner Machinations Of My Mind Are An Enigma also had a great formula. It does start off pretty sheer so you will want to build it up to get the most opacity.
This polish has a very peachy golden vibe to it which I loved! The shimmer is a larger size so it is sparkly without any brush strokes. I was able to see the described colors as well as a hint of green at extreme angles.
I was a little surprised that I really liked this one with a matte top coat. It gave the nail polish a little something extra? I’m not usually one for metallics but this type of metallic look is one of the exceptions.

I was asked to compare this NOL to KBShimmer’s Looking For Love from the January 2023 Polish Pickup. The KBShimmer shifts more strongly towards green, the NOL pulls more rose gold. Also the holographic flakies in LFL are larger.

Under the Sea Waterslide decals $6

So like last month, I decided to color the backs of the decals with an opaque white creme before applying them. I will fully admit that they are far from perfect but I tried y’all. This was my second attempt and the first was just not useable at all.
I think something that I have to remind myself when using waterslide decals is to cut off as much of the excess as possible. I think that is what trips me up the most.
For the blue base, I used Night Owl Lacquer Feeling Nauti (blue) and First Light (yellow). First Light is the perfect Spongebob yellow and Feeling Nauti is just beautiful.

Bikini Bottom scent description: Pineapple, blueberry, and coconut blended with bergamot, sandalwood, and sugared citrus.
This month’s scent smells so fruity and delicious! It smells exactly as described.
Doodlebob Vinyl Sticker $5
I really appreciate that this month’s vinyl fits perfectly on the front of a helmer drawer. Doodlebob is one of my favorite Spongebob characters.

Final Thoughts
As someone who loves Spongebob, I was very excited about this box. Both polishes were great BUT I do wish the colors were more, ocean-y? Bright? Or maybe even just throw in a yellow? Just looking at them, they don’t scream Spongebob to me.
But that is just me nit-picking. I am glad that I pulled out my matte top coat (Night Owl Lacquer’s Gone Matte) because I really loved both of the polishes matte.
I don’t generally pick favorites from Fandom Flakies since you have to buy all of the polishes together. However, since my favorite part of the box, this month was the Ribbits Stickits items! I will say those were my favorites. If you are a Spongebob fan, especially do not skip out on the waterslide decals and the Doodlebob vinyl.

The Spongebob Squarepants themed Fandom Flakies box goes live on January 13th at 12PM (Noon) Eastern time on FandomFlakies.com. The full box of 2 polishes is priced at $22 plus shipping. The box with both of the waterslide decals is an additional $10. The other items are available individually.
There is also a monthly automatic subscription option if you want to subscribe that way. Since this month doesn’t have a guest maker, those of you who have the automatic monthly subscription to the box, you will be refunded $10.
