Today’s blog post features a brand that had been on my “brands to try” list for at least a year now! I have a few recent releases by Fancy Gloss. The December restock was this past Friday so I am running a wee bit late with these. The good news is that most of them are still available and the ones that aren’t are likely to be restocked in the future. I will have links to where you can purchase these at the end of this post!
If you haven’t heard of Fancy Gloss before, they are an indie nail polish brand based in the US. Their polishes are handmade, 10 free, vegan and cruelty free. This brand is pretty famous in the indie polish world for their thermal polishes.
Disclaimer: I was sent these products as PR in exchange for photographs and an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own. My photos were taken indoors with daylight bulbs and outdoors with natural light (weather willing). All photos include both glossy and matte top coats.
Aquatica
Description: Dusty periwinkle/blue (cold) to purple (warm) to pastel blue/teal (hot)
Aquatica had a really great formula. It was on the thicker side but not too thick in my personal opinion. It started changing colors as I as I was applying it to the beautiful dusty lilac color. The cold state was opaque in 1 coat but the lighter states were a little streaky in 2 coats. I used 3 coats for my photos.
Note: My photos for just the warm and cold states didn’t come out right and I didn’t get a chance to reswatch them before this release.
Caribbean Green
Description: Neon teal/green base packed with pink/purple/green/copper/gold flakes and copper/red/green shimmer.
Caribbean Green had a great formula that was on the thicker side of normal. However, it did apply evenly and easily. It’s jam packed with flakies! The shimmer seems to blend in with the flakies as I wasn’t really seeing a separate element on the nail. The colors I was seeing in person were green, yellowy gold, pink, and a hint of purple. I used 3 coats for my photos but my personal preference would be to wear it in 2 coats. I had just a touch of transparency towards the tips. I think natural nails, would be good in 2-3 coats depending on length. Since this is a neon, my camera just said ‘nope!’ on getting it 100% color accurate. I will say it is BRIGHT and will lean more teal in cool lighting and more green in warm lighting.
Limonata
Description: Yellow base packed of pink/purple/green/copper/gold flakes and copper/red/green shimmer.
Limonata was the color I was most excited to try out of this release. I don’t own very many yellow flakie polishes so this was the first one that I reached for. Formula wise, it was similar to Caribbean Green. A little on the thick side but not so much so that it was hard to work with. It was sheerer than Caribbean Green so I think unless you wear an undie with it, you will probably have VNL. I used 3 coats for my photos.
Watermelon Sherbet
Description: Dusty pink (cold) to pastel green (warm) creme thermal.
Watermelon Sherbet had a good formula, it was just a touch too thick for my personal preference but it wasn’t so thick that it was gloopy or hard to work with. It was really opaque on the first coat thanks to that thickness. It applies really easily on the first coat but you will cause streaks/ridges if you start overworking it. However, those streaks/ridges do self level really nicely if you do overwork it. I used 3 coats for my photos. I found that the cold state was opaque in 2 coats but the warm state was a little patchy.
Note #2: After applying the first coat, I opted to add some thinner to it but again, that was just for my personal preference. I found the “issue” with overworking it, was less of an issue after adding thinner.
Picante
Description: Red (cold) to green (warm) packed with pink/purple/green/copper/gold clear flakes and copper/red/green shimmer.
Picante had a great formula. It was not too thick or too thin but it was on the thicker side. It started changing as I was applying it. It was very opaque on the first coat but it was a little patchy. The cold state was opaque in 2 coats. I used 3 coats for my photos to make sure that the warm state was fully opaque. Whether you do two coats or three will depend on personal preference and nail length. If I was just wearing this for myself, I would use 2.

Final Thoughts
These were all really great polishes. If I had to pick a favorite, I would go with Limonata (because it’s yellow) or Picante (because the color combo) with Caribbean Green getting an honorable mention. I had been wanting to try this brand out for a very long time and am pretty estatic that Jackie decided to add me to her swatch team. All of the polishes I have tried by Fancy Gloss have been excellent! I have noticed with Fancy Gloss polishes that they tend to lean on the thicker side of normal. I prefer thicker formulas so that is perfectly fine with me however if that is not your jam, having some nail polish thinner on hand would be good. I personally use the Leesha’s Lacquer nail polish thinner (reviewed here) but there are lots of different indie polish friendly thinners on the market.

These polishes are available now on FancyGlossPolish.com. At the time of posting, everything is still available except for the cremes. I have noticed that Jackie will often bring back polishes that sell out if people in the fan group request them, so be sure to join the Facebook fan group if you would like her to bring that one back. Restocks usually take place towards the end of each month. The December restock was on the 18th.
