I have been trying to make an effort to keep my Cindy hand (my dominant hand) painted as well as get back to wearing nail polish for fun again. Ever since starting this blog, my dominant hand has largely been ignored and to be honest, I usually don’t feel like painting my nails after spending several hours swatching.
So all of that is to say that for the past month or so, I have been doing pretty good at keeping Miss Cindy painted. Ok in reality she only looks good for like 3 days out of a 7 day period before chipping starts BUT that’s still progress ok?! I was so in love with this manicure that I actually remembered to take some photos!
Back when textured polishes were still being released regularly I was a bit of an ‘if I can’t find it at Walmart or in the discount bin at Sally’s I don’t want it’ snob (China Glaze of course being the one brand I made an exception for haha) and didn’t pay much attention to OPI releases. So I missed out on all of the liquid sands, shatters, and other fun polishes OPI did way back when. How I didn’t pick up the Muppets collection is still beyond me…
As the equal opportunity nail polish lover that I now am, I decided to pick up a few OPI liquid sand polishes which were their textured line. I am so in love with them!!
The Liquid Sand line is discontinued but you can easily find these online in good condition I might add. I have gotten all of mine for eBay and Mercari for less than $7 apiece.
OPI Jinx
Jinx is an orangey red textured polish with a golden shimmer that dries down matte. Despite being originally released in 2013 in the Bond Girls collection (I’m working on completing my set), my bottle wasn’t thick, and the formula was fantastic. Which just goes to show how well polish can hold up over the years.
I kinda dislike matte polish in general but I make an exception for textured polishes. Texture wise, this wasn’t the most gritty texture polish I have ever tried but it felt similar to a buffing block type of nail file.
I used 2 coats of Jinx without top coat for my photos. I can’t remember which base coat I wore with this but I did get some slight staining on my nails. This wore really well on me! I made it to day 4 before I got a chip, usually Cindy starts getting chips on day 3. As the worker hand, Cindy isn’t the hand to get good wear time.
So yeah, this is your regular reminder from your friendly neighborhood nail blogger that nail polish doesn’t expire and not to throw out your old nail polish. If your polish has thickened up, squirt some nail polish thinner in there! I like KBShimmer’s Restoration Drops but OPI also makes a nail polish thinner but do not throw out your nail polish or worse add nail polish remover.
Do you own this polish? Let me know what you think of me swatching some older releases over here down in the comments!
