Bee’s Knees Lacquer Swamp Witch Era
Commissioned Content, post disclosure page
Hi friends! Today I am sharing the newest collection from Bee’s Knees Lacquer. This is their new Swamp Witch Era collection. Sarah said to herself “go big or go home” and is giving us 13 polishes PLUS a massive site wide sale! Alongside this release there is also a charity polish that I reviewed earlier.
This collection features a whole variety of finishes and is available right now on the BKL website as well as their stockist pages. I’ll have all of the sale information at the end of the post!
All of my swatches show the polishes in 3 coats plus glossy top coat. For the magnetics I magnetized only the third coat, the middle nail is cat eye and my ringer fingers shows the velvet effect.
Bee’s Knees Lacquer is a US based indie brand. Their polishes are in 15ml bottles, 5 free, cruelty free and vegan friendly.
Bog Dweller
Description: a deep turquoise magnetic with seafoam shimmer
Bog Dweller magnetized so beautifully! This is a very green leaning turquoise in my opinion.
By the Light of the Moon
Description: an indigo magnetic with lavender shimmer
I was undecided on if I thought the magnetic shimmer in this polish looked silver, lavender or if it was changing from silver to lavender. It looks like both colors to my eyes.
Crown of Bones
Description: a sheer muted peach with strong green to blue shimmer
On me this base looks more in the pale brownish nude shade than peach toned.
Crown of Bones reminded me a lot of Patroness Of Pussy. They aren’t dupes or as similar as I expected them to be. The base colors are for sure different. PoP is a lot lighter in color.
Curses and Toads
Description: a sheer muted sage with pink shimmer and a scattering of silver light reflective glitter
This is a very grey toned sage in my opinion. I would probably put it more in the grey family than green color family. The LRG does give this polish some texture so you will likely need at least 2 coats of top coat to smooth everything out.
Doing Crone Shit
Description: a sheer muted rose with green to blue microflakes
As someone who generally doesn’t microflakes, the flakies in here look amazing paired with the base color. I noticed that it looks like there are some glitters thrown in here but I didn’t find that the polish dries down like there were glitters. Top coat will still be needed to smooth everything out though.
Eldritch Horror
Description: a rich violet with glowy pink to green shimmer and subtle holo *may bleed with QDTC*
My photos does include a quick dry top coat and I did find that the polish bled just a tiny bit. If you want it to not bleed, use a water based top coat before your quick dry top coat.
I thought for sure this was going to stain my overlay so I used 3 coats of base coat to prevent staining. I didn’t personally experience any staining.
Feral
Description: a metallic pewter gray
The silver shimmer in this polish has a slight greenish color shift in person.
Harbinger
Description: a flax yellow with orange to gold shimmer and a scattering of silver light reflective glitter
While this polish doesn’t immediately make me think swamp witch, it does make me think spring! The shimmer and light reflective glitter give this a beautiful sparkle.
As per usual, the LRG will give off a lot of texture so multicple coats of top coat will be needed.
Herbalism
Description: a dark teal with glowy pink to green shimmer and subtle holo
Herbalism is on the sheerer side even after 3 coats your nail line will still be pretty visible. The shimmer and holographic combination is stunning though.
I thought this was going to be a stainer so I did use 3 coats of base coat for my swatches, I didn’t personally experience any staining though.
Live Deliciously
Description: a black polish with subtle purple to green shimmer and matte black flakies
This is one of the more interesting polishes in this release, in my opinion. The black flakies look really textured and kinda ugly (in a good way). Like this polish gives off “I found this in a swamp” vibes and I love that.
This is another polish that is a bit more on the sheer side.
Return to the Moss
Description: a sheer mossy green with blue microflake shimmer
Return to the Moss is another one of the more sheer polishes in this collection. There will be very obvious nail line even when built up into 3 coats. You can see the bruise on my pointer finger pretty clearly in these photos.
Terrifying Visage
Description: a muted umber with glowy cobalt shimmer
I found on me, this polish looked more in the warm rose to mauve family than an umber (brown). The shimmer has a blue to purple color shift.
Toil and Trouble
Description: an olive green magnetic with gold shimmer
Last but certainly not least, Toil and Trouble is going to be my top pick from this collection. You know that overdone green color of a hard boiled egg? That’s what this base color looks like and I didn’t realize that I wanted that specific hue in a magnetic so much until I saw this on my nails.
The magnetic shimmer looks more chartreuse than gold to me.
