Hey friends! Today I have the newest release from Bee’s Knees Lacquer. This one is inspired by and named after the series From Blood And Ash by Jennifer Armentrout. I have not yet read this one but I plan on checking the book out later today. With this collection, BKL is bringing some pastel multichromes as well as more polishes with those black to red multichrome flakies that I loved from last month.
This is an 8 piece collection that opens for preorders on July 30th on the Bee’s Knees website as well as their international stockists. There will also be 2 mystery polishes available, a restock on the Resident Evil Village collection and a bunch of other polishes will be restocked as well. As always, full sale details will be at the end of this post.
Bee’s Knees Lacquer is a US based indie brand. Their polishes are handmade, 5+ free, vegan and cruelty free.

The Maiden
Description: a glitter bomb with ruby red and holo glitters in various sizes
Price: $11
The Maiden had a great formula. It didn’t feel thick at all despite having so much glitter in it. Coverage wise, it was a little on the more sparse side so will it is full coverage, you will see some of your nail between the glitters.
I used 3 coats for my photos. This does not dry down nearly as textured as I thought it would. I got away with 1 thicker coat of top coat to smooth this out. Removal will be difficult due to all of the glitters. I would recommend soaking this off or using a peel off base coat.
This polish would be a good candidate for the sponging technique or even using it as a topper.
The Dark One
Description: a glitter bomb with royal purple and holo glitters in various sizes
Price: $11
The Dark One also had a great formula and didn’t feel thick at all. The glitters in this had a bit of a metallic look in person. Everything spread out really nicely and I didn’t need to do anything special for great coverage.
It was a bit more opaque than The Maiden but I did have a tiny bit of VNL. This didn’t dry down super textured so I used 1 thicker coat of top coat to smooth it out. Removal will be difficult due to the glitters. I would recommend soaking this off or using a peel off base coat.
Princess
Description: a glitter bomb with rose gold and holo glitters in various sizes
Price: $11
Princess is a soft princessy rose gold shade. The glitters spread out evenly and easily on their own. This one is just so sparkly that you have to search for a visible nail line but it will be there.
Like the other glitter bombs in this release, it did not dry down super textured. It was slightly more textured than the other polishes but with 1 thick coat of my top coat, I was able to smooth this out completely. If your top coat is on the thinner side, you might need to go in for multiple coats.
From Blood and Ash
Description: a peachy pink to yellow to green pastel multichrome
Description: $13
From Blood And Ash had a great formula. It applied very easily. I didn’t have any issues and this doesn’t show brush strokes. I was seeing all of the described colors in person. This polish really glows in low lighting!
In 3 coats, I did still have some pretty obvious VNL. Because I was curious, I also swatched this in 1 coat over black. No issues on removal
I will note, if you have any sort of ridges or imperfections on your nails, you will want to use a ridge filling/smoothing base coat. I was inebtween sets when I swatched this and I found it was extra obvious with this polish.
Also side note, if you follow me on Instagram (@nicoleloves_nails) you would have seen me wearing this polish with a holo topper that I purchased from My Indie Polish. It was originally a part of Polish Pickup but Tanya brought it back for July’s Rewind. To say adding holo to From Blood And Ash was a very good decision on my part is an understatement.
Heartmates
Description: a pastel multichrome that shifts from rich mauve to yellow to green with a scattering of black to red multichrome flakes. It’s like if Only You Can Decide What Breaks You and The Asteri had a baby.
Price: $13
Heartmates had an amazing formula. It starts off sheer but builds up to full opacity. This is EXTREMELY color shifty! I was seeing all of the described colors in person in both the base and the flakes. This multichrome doesn’t show brush strokes and paired with the flakies… just WOW!
I used 3 coats for my photos. I didn’t have any VNL. Nothing in here dried textured or will be difficult to remove.
Murderous Little Creature
Description: a pastel multichrome that shifts from green to pink to blue with a scattering of black to red multichrome flakes
Price: $13
Murderous Little Creature had a great formula. It didn’t feel overly thick or thin and I didn’t have any application issues. This polish is more on the sheer side but that sheerness really lets the multichrome pigment do its thing! In person, the colors I was seeing in the base were pink, teal, blue and purple at extreme angles.
This will be on the more sheer side so even in 3 coats you will have some VNL. My photos show this in 3 coats. I think this would look amazing over black and has the potential to be a topper over other colors as well. Nothing in here dried textured.
You Are My Home
Description: a cobalt blue pastel multichrome that shifts to sapphire and purple with a scattering of black to red multichrome flakes
Price: $13
You Are My Home also had a great formula. This was the least color shifty out of the pastel multichrome polishes but it was still impressive. Like the previous flakie polishes, the flakes all spread out evenly and easily. I was seeing all of the described colors in person in both the multichrome as well as the flakies.
I used 3 coats for my photos. I did still have some VNL. This was the most sheer out of the pastel multichromes with flakies. I decided to swatch this over black (Heather’s Hues Shadow) just to see what it was like, and it was gorgeous!
Nothing in here dried textured or will be difficult to remove.
We Shall Rise
Description: a bright aqua to cobalt to purple pastel multichrome
Price: $13
We Shall Rise also had a great formula. Like the other polishes in this release, it didn’t feel overly thick or thin and I didn’t have any application issues. The multichrome in this is very color shifty and really glows on the nail. I was seeing all of the described colors in person.
I used 3 coats for my photos. This is sheer enough that it would work great as a topper. I did have some obvious VNL with this polish.
