Bee’s Knees Lacquer A Court Of Silver Flames Part 2 + Olive Lovers Group Custom + Comparisons
Hello friends! Today’s blog post features some new releases from Bee’s Knees Lacquer. I have part 2 to the A Court Of Silver Flames collection plus a polish that is the group custom for the Oliver Polish Lovers Facebook Group. Both of these launch this Friday on the Bee’s Knees website as well as on their international stockist websites. I will have all of the sale details at the end of this post.
If you missed part 1, here is my review for that is linked here. And don’t forget to check out my live swatch videos for both collections. I also have some comparisons at the end of the post.

Death Gripped Her By The Other
Description: a rich plum with soft pink to green shimmer.
Price: $12
Death Gripped Her By The Other had a great formula. The shimmer is very strong in this base. The pink shift in particular at some angles overpowers the plum base to make this polish look pink. In some lighting, this will look more pink than purple. I found I was seeing a pink to gold to green color shift in person.
The shimmer is slightly brush strokey when wet. 99% of the brush strokes disappear as it dries. I think this will be a solid 3 coater on pretty much everyone. There is a slight amount of VNL at some angles but for the most part, your nail line will be covered.
His Voice Was Her Favorite Melody
Description: a bright pink with soft coral to orange shimmer
Price: $12
His Voice Was Her Favorite Melody had a great formula. This is a *very* bright pink, I think this has some neon pigment in it since it does glow under black light. The shimmer is very strong and I was seeing both of the described color shifts in person.
This was just slightly sheer after 3 coats so I did have some VNL. The shimmer is strong enough that it largerly distracts from your nail line but it is there if you look for it. I didn’t have any staining with this polish.
I Give It Back
Description: soft purple with glowy gold to green to blue shimmer. This is the purple sister to our PPU polish Awakened.
Price: $13
I Give It Back had a really good formula. It did start off a little uneven but it builds up nicely in 3 coats. The purple base leans slightly pink toned but when set next to a pink, it is very clearly purple. The shimmer is very strong and I was seeing all of the described colors on the nail.
I think this is going to be a solid 3 coats on pretty much everyone. I used 3 coats for my photos. This is a bit sheer in 3 coats so you will have some VNL. I also swatched this over a blurring base coat in 3 coats.
Lightsinger
Description: a rich tangerine with soft orange to green shimmer
Price: $12
Lightsinger had a great formula. It didn’t feel overly thick or thin and I didn’t have any application issues. The is a bright and beautiful tangerine orange! I found the shimmer to look very golden in the base. The green shift was tricky to photograph but I was seeing it in person.
This is also going to be a solid 3 coater on pretty much everyone. I did have some VNL with this polish on some angles.
Nothing Can Break Us
Description: a bright spring green with a glowy pink shimmer
Price: $12
Nothing Can Break Us had a great formula. It is on the sheer side so you will have pretty obvious VNL with this polish in 3 coats. The shimmer is very strong! In person, I was seeing a pink to gold color shift.
As I mentioned, this is a very sheer polish. I also swatched this over a blurring base coat in 3 coats on my thumb nail. Personally, I prefer it without the blurring base.
Our Stories Are Worth Telling
Description: a grass green with soft green to blue shimmer
Price: $12
Our Stories Are Worth Telling had a great formula. It didn’t feel overly thick or thin and I didn’t have any application issues. The shimmer is very strong and plays well with the base.
The green base is a bit more opaque than some of the other polishes in this release. You will still have some VNL on some angles but it’s not as obvious. I used 3 coats for my photos.
Power Lay In Her Hand
Description: – a mid-toned blue with soft aqua to purple shimmer
Price: $12
Power Lay In Her Hand had a great jelly-like formula. It goes on a little patchy at first so definitely wear base coat to get a smoother application. The unevenness sorts itself out with the following coats without needing to do anything special.
The shimmer *slightly* shows some brush strokes but you have to search for them. I was seeing all of the described color shifts in person. I used 3 coats for my photos. I did have some VNL at some angles, mostly just under direct lighting.
She Would Happen To Him
Description: a light aqua with glowy green to blue shimmer
Price: $12
She Would Happen To Him had a great formula. It was on the more sheer side so you will want to build it up in 3 coats. The shimmer is very strong in this base and I was seeing both of the described colors in person.
I also swatched this on my thumbnail in 3 coats with a blurring base coat.
This was similar enough to Our Stories Are Worth Telling that I made sure not to swatch them back to back because I had a feeling I would get the two confused if enough time passed between swatching and editing. Side by side, they’re not all that similar but I did have to redo part of my video because I confused them for each other. This polish is slightly less opaque than OSAWT.
The Blood Rite
Description: a rich magenta with OG UP (red to green)
Price: $15
The Blood Rite had a really great formula. It applied really smoothly and didn’t feel overly thick or thin. I found the the shimmer in this was more on the subtle side. It didn’t show brush strokes at all.
This had great coverage in 2 coats. It is very opaque on its own so this won’t need an undie BUT I showed it on my thumb over the Lover/Lose undie by this brand since I know people like to pair OG UP with undies. I think most people will be good with 2 coats. Longer nails will probably want to go in for a third coat. The third coat does deepen the color and adds opacity. For normal wear, I would wear this in 2 coats but I used 3 for my photos.
Note: Customer bottles will have more UP in it than the ones swatchers received!
Trove Of Nightmares (Olive Polish Group Custom)
Description: a bright, summer olive polish with contrasting orange to green shimmer. Because of the strong shimmer color, the polish can pull more yellow in bright light and more green in low light
Price: $12
Trove Of Nightmares had a great formula. It was slightly on the sheerer side but it has pretty good coverage. I found the olive base paired really nicely with the shimmer. The shimmer is so strong that this appears yellow more often than not. I found the green color shift kinda melts (?) into the base color so you get that olive/mustard tone. For the most part, I was just seeing the yellow in the shimmer with a hint of an orangey tone at extreme angles.
This builds up nicely in 3 coats. As I mentioned, it is on the sheer side so you will have some VNL. If VNL isn’t for you, I think this one benefits nicely with a blurring base coat (I used Soft Focus by Polished For Days). I found the one I used didn’t alter the base color significantly.
Final Thoughts
I thought this collection was fantastic! The formulas were all great and I didn’t have any issues. The color story made me very happy. My top picks from this release were Nothing Can Break Us, His Voice Was Her Favorite Melody and I Give It Back.
