Zoya Y2K Holiday 2022

[Purchased, affiliate links/codes used – Post Disclosure Page]

Hey friends! Today’s blog post is for a new release from Zoya. For holiday/winter, Zoya has come up with 2 trios. The first being this one, the Y2K collection. The second is called Hypnotic.

This collection is all jelly finishes with some holographic glitter. Think of all of those random transparent and jelly themed items that were for whatever reason, released in the late 90s and early 2000s.

As always, links and sale info can be found at the end of the post. Don’t forget to check out my live swatch video to see these moving around!

Zoya is a US based mainstream brand. Their polishes are in 15ml bottles, 10 free, vegan and cruelty free.

Malana

trying to show the shimmer effect here

Description: a juicy bubblegum pink in a liquid holographic jelly formula

Malana had a great but thicker formula. I found it very easy to apply. I freaking LOVE this bright pink base color, paired with the shimmer and flakies? Stunning!

The shimmer has a sparkly blue to purple to pink color shift. It didn’t really translate to photos well but it’s there. There appears to be 2 different sizes of silver holographic glitters in here as well. They do dry down with some texture but one coat of top coat seemed to smooth them out nicely.

This polish is in a jelly base, so you will want to built it up to get the most opacity. I did still have some VNL with it after 3 coats.

My photos show Malana in 3 coats plus glossy top coat. Removal will be on the more difficult side.

Sparrow

Description: A bright cyan jelly shade, this liquid holographic makes for a nice splashy look that has that boom boom pow!

Sparrow Formula and applicaiton wise, this was exactly the same as Malana. It felt slightly on the thicker side but I didn’t have any issues with application.

This shade of blue was so bright and fun! It doesn’t really scream “winter release” to me but I am not really a stickler for such things.

The jelly base is fairly sheer so you will want to build it up. It will likely be a solid 3 coater to get the most opacity. The shimmer effect in here seems to be the same as the other polishes.

My photos show Sparrow in 3 coats plus glossy top coat. Removal will of course be on the more difficult side if you scrub it off.

Tamiah

Description: A tart grape liquid jelly, infused with holographic sparkles, truly irreplaceable!

Tamiah also had a fantastic formula, you know the same as the other 2 polishes. The base color is a warm toned purple and it looks just stunning paired with the shifty shimmer and holographic glitter.

Like the other two polishes, it starts out fairly sheer so build this one up as well to get the most opacity. And again, the glitters do give this some texture but 1 coat of top coat seemed to smooth it out perfectly.

My photos shoe Tamiah in 3 coats plus glossy top coat. I would recommend the soak off method or a peel off base coat for the easiest removal.

Final Thoughts

I LOVED this collection! Given, these colors are literally my favorite nail polish colors to wear so I am sure it is not terribly surprising that a trio like this would be right up my alley. But the jelly bases paired with the shimmer and glitter were just too fun/pretty for me not to love.

My only complaint is that I wish there was a tiny bit more variety in finishes but it’s not that big of a deal when we’re only talking about 3 colors. I supposed if we count New Year as a holiday, these might pass as holiday colors? But in my opinion I don’t think the color story is very holiday or winter for that matter.

But again, I will never be bad mad at brands doing untraditional color stories for seasonal releases. Well unless we’re talking summer than I probably will complain because summer = bright and no one will ever convince me otherwise.

If I had to pick a favorite, it would probably be Malana but honestly I freaking loved all of these equally!
