Zoya Daydreaming Spring 2023

Collage of swatches from Zoya's Daydreaming collection for Spring 2023

[Purchased, affiliate links used]

Hey friends! Today I am sharing Zoya newest collection for Spring 2023. Out of all of the Spring collections that I have swatched this year (OPI, Orly, Essie and KBShimmer if you are keeping track) this is one of the more atypical color stories for the season.

This collection is called Daydreaming and we have 6 shimmer polishes. Seeing how one of my complaints about the past few Zoya collections was a severe lack of sparkle, I was pretty excited that they decided on a full collection of shimmers.

I’ll save all of my thoughts for the actual blog post but this collection is available right now. If you would like to pick the collection up at a discount, check out Beyond Polish and use my affiliate code to save yourself an extra 10%. As always, links and sale deets are at the end of the post!

Zoya is a US based mainstream brand. Their polishes are in 15ml bottles, 10 free, vegan and cruelty free.

Kira

Description: a Vibrant cornflower blue infused with micro-shimmer

Kira had a fantastic formula. It starts off pretty sheer so you will need to build it up to get opacity. The crelly like base really lets the shimmer shine.

I love cornflower blues and the base color on this is so damn pretty. Paired with the gold, pink and blue elements to the shimmer? 10/10 loved it!

My photos show Kira in 3 coats plus glossy top coat. To get full, even coverage I do think this will likely be a solid 3 coater. It was a little uneven after 2 coats for me. Removal will be very easy but messy and no issues with staining.

Marie

Description: a lively Chinese violet infused with micro-shimmer

Marie had a fantastic crelly formula. This one starts off a little sheer but wow!

Like Kira, the sheerness of the base really lets that micro shimmer show. I was seeing the same gold, pink and blue elements in it as Kira. It wasn’t color shifty but it seems like there are several different types of shimmer in the polish.

My photos show Marie in 3 coats plus glossy top coat. I feel like unless you go in for very thick coats, this will likely be a 3 coater to reach full and even opacity. Removal won’t be difficult but it will be a little more messy than a creme polish.

Sipsey

Description: a red tinted amber infused with micro-shimmer

Sipsey was the surprise stand out for me. The formulation was perfect but there was just something about this reddish base that just really made me happy.

The micro shimmer in here was mainly pulling gold, with a closer look I could see some pink tones but again mainly the shimmer pulled gold. I loved everything about this polish. Which I am sure is largely due to the gold.

My photos show Sipsey in 2 coats plus glossy top coat. I could see folks with longer nails needing a third coat.

Terra

Description: an amethyst purple with pink undertone with micro-shimmer

Terra had pretty much the same formula and application as the other polishes in this release. The base color is cute, it’s a very pinky toned purple shade.

The shimmer is unsurprisingly gorgeous, you get the pink, blue and golden tones in it. Despite this polish being pretty cute, I didn’t really care for it color wise.

My photos show Terra in 2 coats plus glossy top coat. I did have a little bit of VNL with this polish.

Tink

Description: Juicy, zestful amaranth magenta infused with micro-shimmer

Tink just wow. Tink had a STUPENDOUS formula. Ok, really all of the polishes in this release were great. I am just saying Tink was stupendous because the base color was fricking gorgeous.

The base color is a juicy, vibrant magenta shade. You get the same gold, pink and blue micro shimmers as the other polishes however the blue shimmer pulls more purple due to the base color.

This polish is on the sheerer side so I did need 3 coats to get a pretty good opacity going. I did still have some VNL with it in 3 coats but it was minor.

My photos show Tink in 3 coats plus glossy top coat. I fully expected this polish to be a stainer but it wasn’t for me.

Yardley

Description: Peachy champagne gold, infused with micro-shimmer

Yardley had a great formula. I kinda felt a little underwhelmed by this polish. The base appears to be a metallic peachy champagne with some added shimmer. The metallic element does show some brush strokes.

While it did seem to have at least the gold and pink shimmer elements from the other polishes, it didn’t have the blue toned shimmer. I thought Yardley was going to be a standout for me and it wasn’t.

My photos show Yardley in 3 coats plus glossy top coat. Depending on thickness of coats, this will likely be a 2-3 coater.

Final Thoughts

I was really looking forward to this collection. I had high hopes, especially seeing how they weren’t ANY pastel cremes in sight. I did love the shimmer that Zoya added to these polishes but I still feel a little letdown?

I’m happy that this wasn’t a typical spring release but at the same time, I feel like for a seasonal release this isn’t giving me spring vibes. Which usually I am fine with but I think this collection would have worked better as a spring to summer transitional collection.

I fully recognize that I sound like a huge hypocrite as I always complain about stereotypical Spring releases being boring and now here I am complaining about a non-typical release not feeling like spring.

Anyway, my top picks are going to be Tink and Kira.

Sale Information

The Daydreaming collection is available right now on the Zoya website. Zoya retails for $12 USD for 15ml bottles. Zoya does sales fairly often so if 12 bucks is too steep for you, wait for a sale. Zoya should be doing one next month for Earth Day.

If you don’t feel like waiting but still want to save some coins, check out Beyond Polish if you are in the US. On BeyondPolish.com, Zoya is priced at $7.70 per bottle which is the cheapest that I have found the brand outside of sales. If you use my affiliate code, NicoleLovesNails you can save an extra 10%. All money generated from affiliate codes goes back into buying collections to review so that helps me out a ton.
