Salon Perfect Perfect Flash (Indie Polish At A Drug Store???)

[Purchased, affiliates links used]

Hi friends! Today I am sharing a new-to-the-blog brand, Salon Perfect. I recently saw on Facebook that this brand released some light reflective glitter polishes. I haven’t personally seen any of the mainstream brands here release polishes in this finish so I was very intrigued!

Salon Perfect is a brand that is exclusive to Walmart stores here in the US so it is a very affordable brand. I was pleasantly surprised when I went to my local store that there were several polishes by Salon Perfect that had very indie polish feels to them.

Pretty much all of the polishes in this release have the same jelly base with light reflective glitters added. These are unlike most of the light reflective glitter polishes that I have tried as they are NOT thick or have that ‘wet sand’ kind of application.

Anyway, as far as I can tell official promotion for this collection has not yet started. I did purchase my polishes from the Walmart website. I also paired all of these with the brand’s new glitter smoothing top coat, Glitter Gloss. As always, links and sale details can be found at the end of the post.

Dream Gleam

Description: a pale green reflective glitter polish

Dream Gleam had fantastic formula. The base was A LOT thinner than I expected however, I expect the base to be thick and have a more ‘wet sand’ application. The polish felt to me like a normal jelly polish with micro glitter in it. It was very easy to apply and was not watery at all.

The base appears to be clear so you will need to build this up for opacity. I don’t have an official description of the exact glitter mix, but to my eye, it seems that there is a mix of peridot green metallic glitter, silver and peridot green reflective glitters.

Depending on application, this polish could be a 2-3 coater. On my thumb it was opaque in two coats but on the rest of my fingers I needed a third coat to reach full opacity.

My photos show Dream Gleam in 3 coats plus 2 coats of top coat. The glitters do dry down with some texture which is to be expected with this type of finish.

Flash Back

Description: a dark grey light reflective glitter polish

Flash Back had a fantastic jelly formula. The base color on this one appears to be clear so you will need to build it up for opacity. I was really happy with how easy this polish was to work with.

In the bottle, this appears to be either a very dark grey or a black with silver reflective glitter. I found one I got this outside, I was seeing a rainbow of reflective glitters! I was definitely seeing red, green, yellow, silver, and maybe blue.

I was also seeing some rainbows as well so I am kinda wondering if there were holographic glitters in here as well OR if there was just a rainbow of reflective glitters? This polish was the biggest shocker for me as I didn’t expect to see so many different colors in the reflects.

My photos show Flash Back in 3 coats plus 2 coats of glossy top coat. Again, this will be a 2-3 coater depending on your application and personal preference. Removal of course will be on the more difficult and messy side due to the glitters. Use the soak of method or a peel off base coat!

Flash Dance

Description: a turquoise light reflective glitter polish

Flash Dance also, had a really great formula. It felt slightly thicker than some of the other polishes but for a LRG polish, it wasn’t thick at all. I love the shade of turquoise this one has!

The base appears to be either clear or very slightly tinted. Like all of these polishes, the opacity comes from the glitters. I was seeing a turquoise metallic glitter with silver and bright turquoise light reflective glitters.

I loved this polish! The base color was bright and fun and I just loved how the glitters sparkled.

My photos show Flash Dance in 3 coats plus 2 coats of glossy top coat.

Flashing Lights

Description: silver light reflective glitter polish

Flashing Lights also had a fantastic formula. I feel like the base color on this one seems to be very lightly tinted but for the most part clear with all of the opacity coming from the glitters.

Out of all of the polishes in this collection, this was the most underwhelming for me. Not because it was bad just because it was a medium grey with with silver reflects and nothing colorful really added.

My photos show Flashing Lights in 3 coats plus 2 coats of top coat. One more time, soak this one off or use a peel off base coat for an easy removal.

Make It Flashy

Description: a medium blue base with blue reflective glitters

Make It Flashy had a great formula. This was the only polish in the release that had an obvious base color. The base color was a medium blue.

I was seeing both silver and blue reflects out in the sunlight. I was most excited about this polish just based on my own color preferences. It didn’t disappoint!

Because this had a more saturated base color, I would recommend wearing base coat if blues tend to stain you. I didn’t personally experience any staining though.

My photos show Make It Flashy in 3 coats plus 2 coats of top coat. Coverage was pretty ok in 2 coats, with careful application or if you aren’t super picky it’s passable in 2 coats.

News Flash

Description: a red reflective glitter polish

News Flash had a really great formula. It was very sheer on the first coat, sheer enough to be used as a topper. It was thinner than I expected a light reflective glitter polish to be but I found the application very easy.

The polish seems to be in a clear base with red metallic glitter, silver, and red light reflective glitters. Because the base is clear, you do need to build it up to reach opacity.

Y’all already know I am going to say that since this is a red it wasn’t really my thing. However, I will say I loved the sparkle level of this polish.

My photos show News Flash in 3 coats plus 2 coats of top coat.

Shine And Dandy

Description: a purple reflective glitter polish

Shine And Dandy had a fantastic formula. The polish was a tiny bit thinner than some of the other polishes but I didn’t experience any issues with application. It didn’t feel runny, just a little bit thin.

This one is in a clear base with purple metallic glitters, silver and purple reflective glitters. I don’t love the shade of purple this one is. It’s a bit warmer in tone than I personally prefer but it is pretty!

My photos show Shine And Dandy in 2 coats plus 2 coats of top coat.

Final Thoughts

I never thought that I would review a nail polish collection that was NOTHING but light reflective glitters and not feel highly annoyed. Light reflective glitter polishes are kinda tricky to get photographed accurately as cameras tend to exaggerate the finish and show them in a way that our eyes don’t see. This is why I always prefer to get natural light shots for this finish since I find that my cameras do best with them that way.

I was really surprised at much I enjoyed these. I loved that the formulas didn’t have that super thick, wet sand-like application that I have come to expect from light reflective glitter polishes. Not that I personally have an issue with that type of base but I know a lot of people do. These are a lot more beginner friendly in my opinion than the thicker formulations.

One thing I do want to mention is that if you pick these up, you will want to pair them with a nice thick top coat. They dry down gritty, not so gritter that I would personally say they feel like a textured finish polish though. I tested out the Salon Perfect glitter smoothing top coat, Glitter Gloss with these. After one layer of Glitter Gloss, I used my go-to KBShimmer Clearly On Top quick dry top coat.

If you decide to wear these polishes, do yourself a favor and do not scrub them off for removal. The soak off method gets them off super easily or use a peel off base coat. Click here to check out my blog post on removing glitter polishes off easily.

My top picks are going to be Make It Flashy and Flash Back.

Sale Information

As far as I can tell, the official promotion for this collection has not yet started. I did purchase my bottles from Walmart.com but it is also popping up in stores now. Online the prices are listed at $5.98. This brand seems to price their polishes starting at $3.99.

Along with this release, Salon Perfect also released a glitter smoothing top coat called Glitter Gloss. I would highly recommend pairing that top coat with these polishes to ensure a smooth finish. Glitter Gloss is priced at $4.98.

Sadly, Salon Perfect is only available in the US. I haven’t been able to find this brand for sale anywhere outside of the United States. I’m sorry international friends.
