Sally Hansen Insta Dri x Peeps 2023

[Purchased, affiliate links used]

Hi friends! I am particularly pumped to share this collection with you all. When I heard that Sally Hansen released a bunch of textured nail polishes in collaboration with Peeps, you can bet your butt that I RAN to the store to find them.

After several stores, I finally found them at my local CVS. Umm, when did Sally Hansen start retailing for over $7?? Just damn. I feel like I used to get this brand for like $3!

Anyway, this collection is popping up in store but I also found some places online selling them (for cheaper I might add). As always, links and sale deets are at the end of the post!

Sally Hansen is a American mainstream/drugstore brand. Their polishes are at least 3 free.

Blue Chick

Description: a bright sky blue textured polish

Blue Chick had a great but thinner formula. I didn’t find it difficult to work with but since it is thinner you have to keep an eye on the stem of the brush to make sure you don’t overload your nail and flood your cuticle area.

I love this shade of blue. It’s bright and so fun. This polish seems to dry down sheerer than it applies. I personally think coverage looks best in 3 coats but if you go in for thicker coats, it will be good in two.

Classic Chick

Description: a Peeps yellow textured polish

Classic Chick had that really good but also thinner formula. Again, I found it easy to work with as long as I made sure to wipe the stem of the brush before applying.

The shade of yellow is what I recall of the Peeps yellow. It is like a cartoony baby chick yellow shade.

Cotton Candy

Description: a textured pink crelly base with blue glitters

Cotton Candy had a great but thinner formula. The glitters all spread out very evenly without needing to do anything special to get good coverage.

I will fully admit if this wasn’t a textured polish I probably would have thought it was butt ugly. However, it is textured and I loved it. The base is a cotton candy pink. Paired with the blue glitters, this feels kinda close to being a gender reveal color scheme.

with top coat

I was kinda curious since this is the most “normal” looking, how it would look with a top coat. I paired it with 2 coats of top coat (glitter smoother Salon Perfect Glitter Gloss) + Essie Gel Setter) and it looks like a normal glitter crelly with top coat!

Marshmallow

Description: a white textured polish

Marshmallow had a great but thinner formula. Working in thinner coats is your best bet with this one as it will flood your cuticle crevices if you aren’t careful. You will also need to keep an eye on the stem of the brush

I really wanted this to be opaque in 2 coats but I found on most of my nails, I had some dark spots. If you aren’t super picky like me or have very careful application it’s passable in 2 coats. Adding a third coat doesn’t seem to mess with the level of texture the polish has.

Pink Bunny

Description: a pink textured polish

Pink Bunny had a great formula. It didn’t feel as thin as some of the other polishes in this release but it was still on the thinner side.

This is another shade that I just love the vibrancy of it. It’s not a soft pink, it’s a pastel with a little extra oomph!

Purple Bunny

Description: a lilac purple textured polish

Purple Bunny had a fantastic formula. It was on the thinner side but not nearly as thin as Peeps Marshmallow. I didn’t have the same issue where the polish was runny.

This is such a pretty shade of lilac. I feel like it has just a droplet of a brighter purple and isn’t just a whited out purple.

Party Cake

Description: a topper in a clear base with white bar glitters, silver, white and yellow hex glitters

Party Cake had a surprisingly thin and watery formula. It wasn’t so thin that I found it difficult to work with but it was very thing.

On the first coat, I found that I had to use my brush to push the glitters around so as not to have any bald spots. The hex glitters are a bit more sparse so you have to work to get them to spread evenly.

This is the only polish in the collection that doesn’t have texture to it.

Final Thoughts

I freaking loved this collection! I love textured polishes so I knew I NEEDED to try these. The colors were great. The texture level was also great.

Since these are all very textured polishes you do NOT want to scrub these polishes off. Seriously, use a peel off base coat or the soak off method to remove them.

My only complaint is that I am a little salty at paying $54.27 for a Sally Hansen collection. Pricing per ml seems a little high to me for a drugstore brand.

My stand out top picks were Cotton Candy, Pink Bunny and Purple Bunny.
