Orly Valentine’s Day Trio 2023

[Press Samples, affiliate links used – Post Disclosure Page]

Hi friends! Today’s blog post is for the new Valentine’s day trio by Orly. As someone whose personality kinda revolves around all things pink, I LOVE Valentine’s day releases.

For 2023, Orly is giving us full on traditional Valentine’s day vibes. We have 2 new polishes and 1 re-promote. These nail polishes are all limited edition and are available now. As per usual, I will have links on where you can pick these up!

Orly is a US based mainstream brand. Their polishes are in massive 18ml bottles, 12 free, cruelty free and vegan friendly.

Let’s Go Girls

Description: a holo topper with pink and purple confetti.

Let’s Go Girls had a good but very thick formula. I can see this one needing thinner after a few uses. On the positive side, it is jam packed with glitters and you get a ton out without needing to do any fishing. They also spread out very evenly and easily.

The addition of the holographic glitter was exactly what I wanted from some of the glitter toppers from the Kelli Marissa collab last year. It adds a sparkle factor that is just so freaking beautiful!

You get enough coverage from the glitters that this can be built up pretty well OR sponged on if you want to full coverage. However, because it is so dense/thick, these will make your nails look a little chunky if you try to reach full opacity by brushing it on.

This polish also dries down very textured. In one coat as a topper, if you want it perfectly smooth I would recommend doubling up on your top coat. If you do multiple layers, you will likely want a third coat.

My photos show Let’s Go Girls in 2 coats plus 2 coats of top coat plus 1 coat over Wink Wink. Removal will be very messy and difficult if you scrub this one off. I would really recommend the soak off method or a peel off base coat.

Sup?

Description: a pink based jelly with holographic glitter

Sup? had a fantastic formula. Since it is in a jelly base, you will want to build it up to get the most opacity. I found in 3 coats, most of your VNL is covered up.

This polish is so freaking sparkly and beautiful! There seem to be at least 2 different sizes of holographic micro glitter in here. They do not dry down super textured but you will still want top coat for a smooth finish.

This polish will be a 2-3 coater depending on preference and nail length. If you don’t have much of a free edge, coverage is even in 2 coats. If you have any issues with seeing your visible nail line, you’re going to want to go in for 3 coats.

My photos show Sup? in 3 coats plus glossy top coat. Removal will be very messy. I wouldn’t recommend scrubbing this one off.

And since I recently swatched a pink jelly with holographic glitter, here is a quick comparison shot to Zoya’s Malana from the Y2K collection. Malanda has larger glitters plus a shift shimmer effect. The base color is also a little different as well.

Wink Wink

paired with Let’s Go Girls

Description: a bubblegum pink creme

Wink Wink had a good formula. It tended to run down the stem of the brush a little bit but I found it easy to work with and it self leveled nicely. It is fairly streaky so you will want to build it up to even everything out.

The base color on this one is true cool toned bubble gum pink. It’s a very fun color and perfect for Valentine’s day. I didn’t think that I was going to like this color but I really dig it!

My only complaint is that it needs 3 coats to get me mostly even coverage. It was very streaky and even in 3 coats, I had some light spots on my nails. Based on how it performed during my live swatch if you float your brush and with careful application, streaks will be fairly minimal.

My photos show Wink Wink in 3 coats plus glossy top coat. Maybe short nails with careful application can make this one a 2 coater.

Final Thoughts

I knew as soon as I saw this PR package and saw 3 pinks with 2 glitters, that this collection was going to be a hit for me. This is the exact kind of Valentine’s day release that I love!

I wasn’t too sure about Wink Wink at first, but once I paired it with Let’s Go Girls, I loved it. That combination was just perfect.

My clear favorite is going to be Let’s Go Girls BUT I really loved all of these polishes. Yes, even Wink Wink.

If traditional Valentine’s day colors aren’t your cup of tea, I want to point you to Essie’s Valentine’s Day collection.
