Olive Ave Constelation Collection | Live Swatch and Review

Today’s blog post features a new-to-the-blog brand called Olive Ave Polish! If that name sounds familiar, this is the brand by Walker from the YouTube channel Olive Ave Nails! This collection is absolutely gorgeous and that’s coming from someone who usually doesn’t get too excited about creme formulas. These are available now on the Olive Ave Polish website. I have a live swatch video of the collection up on my YouTube channel. As always, links and sale details will be at the end of the post.

Olive Ave Polish is a indie brand based in the USA. Their polishes are 10 free, vegan, and cruelty-free. This brand is owned by Walker of Olive Ave Nails on YouTube!

Live Swatch Video

Disclaimer: I was sent these products as paid PR. All thoughts and opinions are my own My photos were taken indoors with daylight/LED bulbs. I used the Olive Ave Nails glossy top coat and the Glisten & Glow Matte top coat for my photos.

Borealis

Description: a cool-toned green cream crossed between jade and emerald

Borealis had a really great formula! It wasn’t too thick or too thin. It applied really nicely. This color is so beautiful and difficult to photograph. Depending on your lighting, it can lean more blue, teal, and even green. This was extremely opaque on the first coat. I can see this being a 1 coater on shorter nails, if you go in for a thicker coat. I opted for 2 coats for my photos.

I didn’t have any staining but since this is so opaque, I would recommend doubling up on base coat for natural nails.

Pegasus

Description:  a soft grey with a delicate pink shimmer

Pegasus another great formula with a perfect consistency. In the bottle, you see a very strong pink shimmer but on the nail, it is more delicate. So much so, I found that the shimmer was really hard to photograph. You see it in person but in photos, it just didn’t want to show up. This will be a 2-3 coater depending on polishing style and nail length. I used 3 coats for my photos.

Scintillate

Description: A deep, vampy plum cream

Scintillate also had a great formula with really smooth even coverage. This is a perfect vampy cream! It’s pretty opaque on its own, and I don’t see anyone needing more than 2 coats for full opacity. I used 2 coats for my photos.

Since this is so opaque, I would recommend doubling up on base coat for natural nails.

Supernova

Description: A metallic shade that sits directly between blue and purple

Supernova had a great formula. I LOVE blurple (blue + purple) colors and this one made me very happy! I don’t usually like metallics but this one is just so pretty! I noticed in my swatch photos if you look *really* closely, this has some brush strokes. In person, I didn’t see them.

This will be a 2-3 coater depending on polishing style and nail length. I see most people being good in 2 coats though. I used 3 coats for my photos.

Virgo

Description: A rich blue violet cream

Virgo Another really great formula. I just love colors in shades like this! It felt thinner in formula in comparison to the other polishes but it wasn’t watery. On my live swatch I accidentally did a really thick coat on the first coat so I thick if you have short nails you might be able to get away with 1 coat.

I want to note that in person Virgo is a darker duskier shade of blue. My photos make it seem similar to Sally Hansen Pacific Blue. I don’t own the original but I have the Moonshine Mani dupe for it and in person, they aren’t close. I’m not sure why my swatch photos make it look so vibrant or how to edit it to look more color accurate.

Virgo is on the left and Moonshine Mani’s In The Pacific is on the right. They’re not even close to being dupes.

Final Thoughts

This collection was really great! All of the polishes had perfect formulas. Application was a breeze with that new paddle brush. The colors Walker picked out just look beautiful together and I have been trying to decide on what type of nail art I want to do with them. If I was going to pick favorites, I would say Supernova and Borealis are my top picks with Pegaus and Virgo getting special mentions. Those are just because those are the colors that speak to me personally.

New vs Old Packaging

The polish to the right is Olive Ave’s Josler. Note that the bottles do not come with the glass cabochons on top of the lids. I add those to my bottles so that I can find polishes easier in my helmers.
