Music City Beauty Spring 2022 Collection

[Paid PR – Post Disclosure Page]

Hello friends! Today I have a beautiful Spring collection to share with you all. This is the Spring 2022 collection by Music City Beauty. I have 6 polishes and they are inspired by The Wheel Of Time!

I do believe this is the first collection by this brand that I have featured on the blog. Usually, I swatch their Polish Pickup or Hella Handmade Creations releases so I was pretty excited to see what their website releases look like.

Spoiler alert, these were all amazing. The collection is available right now on the Music City Beauty website which I will have linked at the end of the post along with their social media pages.

Music City Beauty is a US based indie brand. Their polishes are handmade, 5 free, cruelty free and vegan.

Egwene

Description: a deep berry base with pink/gold magnetic pull, pink ghost flakes and subtle holo
Price: $13

Egwene had a fantastic formula. This polish is extremely opaque! It was opaque on me in one coat! I found the color shift was a pink, gold with green at very extreme angles.

This polish magnetized very easily for me using both a ring magnet and a bar magnet. For my photos, I used a ring magnet. In order to see the ghost flakies best, you will want to magnetize the polish.

My photos show Egwene in 2 coats plus top coat. I magnetized my second coat and left my ring finger unmagnetized. Unmagnetized, this looks like a color shifty multichrome polish.

Egwene dries down pretty dull so you will want top coat for a glossy finish. Removal won’t be difficult and I didn’t have any problems with staining.

Mat

Description: a red jelly base with red to black UCC flakies, gold flakes and subtle holographic
Price: $13.50

Mat had a beautiful formula. I found the base color for this is like a brick red. Since it is a jelly base, it did start off a little sheer but I found it built up for full opacity.

The UCC flakies have that gorgeous black to red color with a hint of orange shift. None of the components dry with texture or will be overly difficult to remove. The holographic is subtle but noticeable.

My photos show Mat in 3 coats plus 1 coat of top coat. The polish dries dull so you will want top coat for a glossy finish. I didn’t think of it until after I was editing my photos but I think this will look really cool matte.

Moiraine

Description: a full coverage micro glitter full of sapphire galaxy and gold holo glitters as well as silver reflective glitter
Price: $13.50

Moiraine had a really nice formula. It was on the thicker side of normal but I found it applied easily and didn’t have any issues. Between the holographic glitters and the reflective glitters, it was extremely sparkly as well as pretty textured.

This was the polish I was most excited about based on the bottle and it didn’t disappoint. This polish was textured enough that I would say that it would be a great polish to wear without top coat for those of you who like textured polishes. It does dry down dull so you will have a textured matte look without top coat.

For those of you who want a perfectly smooth finish, you will want to pair this with a glitter smoothing top coat (I used the KBShimmer Smooth Moves) before going in with your quick dry top coat. Potentially even a third coat of top coat as these glitters are extremely top coat hungry.

My photos show Moiraine in 2 coats plus 2 coats of top coat. I found after about an hour of wearing this polish, I didn’t have a perfectly smooth manicure anymore. So I would recommend wearing a third coat of top coat with this polish to get a perfectly smooth and glossy finish.

Removal will be difficult and extremely messy if you try to scrub this polish off. I used a peel off base coat (Holo Taco Peely Base) but soaking this off will also give you an easy removal.

Nynaeve

Description: a turquoise green base with green to gold color shifting shimmer, subtle holographic and silver holo micro flakes
Price: $13

Nynaeve had a beautiful formula. It was *slightly* on the thicker side but not like thick polish thick, it was like “this is real opaque” thick. It applied very easy and buttery smooth.

The shimmer in here was as described. I found that the shimmer was very brush strokey while wet but for the most part, the brush strokes do disappear as the polish dries. If I really looked for some, I could see them but nothing like while the polish was going on. I wouldn’t say you need to be careful with your brush strokes on the final coat but you might if you are very particular on brush strokes.

I had a tricky time photographing this one. I found it kept leaning either very green or very turquoise. This might have been due to the fact that I was using a new camera and was still unsure on settings but personally, I think it was due to the shimmer changing colors.

My photos show Nynaeve in 2 coats. This will be a 1-2 coater depending on your personal preference and nail length. It was like 95% opaque on me in 1 coat. Nothing in here will dry textured but you will want top coat for a glossy finish.

Perrin

Description: a black base with silver reflective glitter
Price: $13

Perrin had a great formula. I found the glitters all spread out very evenly without giving off a ton of texture but also not perfectly smooth. They were very sparkly and reflective.

The black base built up really nicely. I think it will be a 2-3 coater depending on nail length and personal preference.

My photos show Perrin in 3 coats plus 2 coats of top coat. Due to the reflective glitters, I opted to use a glitter smoothing top coat (KBShimmer’s new one) before going in with my quick dry top coat.

Rand

Description: an orange/copper/red jelly base with gun metal micro flakies, gold shimmer and red to pink to gold to green UCC flakies
Price: $13

Rand had a beautiful formula. In the bottle, I wasn’t very impressed by this polish but once I got it onto my nails, I just kept going ‘wow!’. To my eye, the base color is somewhere between orange, burnt orange and copper.

The flakies all spread out very evenly without giving off any noticeable texture. They also look amazing matte.

My photos show Rand in 3 coats plus both glossy and matte top coat. I think it could potentially be passable in 2 coats on short nails but I think it will look best in 3 coats.

Final Thoughts

I loved that this spring collection wasn’t in your typical spring colors! I also loved that each polish had a completely different finish, there’s a little bit of everything in here which I appreciate.

My top picks are going to be Moiraine and Egwene with Rand coming in as an honorable mention. I was so surprised that I liked that one that I have to give it a shoutout.
