KB Shimmer is one of the OG indie polish brands. Their products are vegan, cruelty free and the polishes are 5+ free.

Amanita Moment

Description:  a soft, sage green crelly with color-shifting flakes in green, red, orange and gold while swimming with a similar color-shifting shimmer.
Price: $11

Amanita Moment had a great crelly formula. It didn’t feel thick or thin. The flakies all spread out really nicely. I think this will be a 2 coater on most people. I had some transparency on my tips so I am going to go in for a 3rd coat. It was pretty minor so if I was just wearing this and not take photos I would only use 2 coats.

Nothing in here dries textured or was difficult to remove.

Branching Out

Description: a deep near navy/indigo (cold) to a dusty periwinkle (warm) to a blue leaning mint (hot) with color shifting flakies
Price: $11

Branching Out had a great formula. It was neither thick or thin and I didn’t have any application issues. I found it started changing to the mid to cool states right away. I love how the flakies look paired with the base colors!

This one was tricky to photograph, especially the warm state. I used 3 coats to get completely opacity. I found the 3rd coat did deepen the color.

Dawn To Earth

Description:  bright, cobalt blue jelly base with a strong pink shimmer that shifts fuchsia, rose, and in some lights, peach, and gold.
Price: $11

Dawn To Earth had a great jelly formula. It didn’t feel thick or thin. It is on the sheer side so you will want to build this one up. On the nail, the shimmer colors I was seeing pink, peach, gold and green. I swatched this in 3 coats. I did have some very slight VNL.

This polish immediately made me think of Heather’s Hues Scorpius. Scorpius is more of a blurple and the shimmer particles seem to be different. If you missed out on Scorpius, this would be a good substitute but not an exact dupe.

Frequent Flyer

Description: Pastel shimmer polish with a rainbow of color shifts
Price: $11

Frequent Flyer had a great formula. Remember a few years ago when burnishing powders were all the rage? The unicorn one in particular? This is that powder in nail polish form. On the nail I was seeing, pink, purple, blue, teal, green, and gold. Over black, you’ll mainly see gold, green, and teal. I swatched this over black and white cremes (Heather’s Hues Shadow and Illuminate) and my middle nail has 3 coats on its own.

Color wise, I like this over white but I think it looks the best in 3 coats on its own. On its own, it is the most color shifty. VNL should be very minimal if at all visible in 3 coats.

Hidden Potential

Description: a warm violet hue that shows off a strong bronze to golden green shimmer in direct lighting.  In indirect lighting, this polish truly comes to life, showing off a rainbow of hidden colors.
Price: $11

Hidden Potential had a great formula. In the bottle, it seems like it’s a dark blurple but on the nail it has an almost artificial grape (think grape candy color and not actual grapes purple) color. The shifty shimmer gives it a green to blue to purple to gold. I can’t get over how this looks like a different polish in every single picture!

I used 3 coats for my photos. I found that the third coat does seem to deepen the color as well as add opacity.

Mist Me

Description: a light, slate blue-hued base. A warm, rose gold shimmer transforms to shades of copper and warm honey.  Bright light will bring out the rainbow flame of linear holographic pigment
Price: $11

Mist Me also has a great formula not too thick or too thin. It is very opaque in comparison to all of the jelly like formulas in this collection. It’s not quite a 1 coater but it still has great coverage. The shimmer gives it an almost metallic effect on the nail and it is a strong shifty shimmer!

This is very opaque in 2 coats I don’t really see anyone needing more than two coats for this one. I used 2 coats for my photos.

No Illusions

Description: A multichrome that shifts teal, emerald, blue, grape, magenta and gold
Price: $11

No illusions had a great formula not too thick or too thin it does feel on the thicker side of normal but it wasn’t too thick. That thickness makes it very opaque! This has a very buttery smooth application and the multichrome pigment is very smooth. I was seeing all of the colors from the description in person.

This will be a 2-3 coater depending on application and nail length. Shorter nails should be good in 2 coats. I had 2 nails that were good in 2 coats and the other 2 needed a third.

I’d Pick You

Description: A pastel orchid crelly base with softly colored flakes show off hues of leaf green, goldenrod, peach, and at some angles, aqua.
Price: $11

I’d Pick You had a great formula with a smooth and easy application. The flakies spread out evenly and easily on their own. The base color is a pinky purple type shade. Depending on your lighting, it will lean more pink or purple.

The flakies dry down fairly smooth and won’t be too difficult to remove. I used 3 coats for my photos.

What the fudge

Description: a warm toned milk chocolate-colored crème polish
Price: $10

What The Fudge had a great formula (and a hilarious name!) with smooth easy application and self levels perfectly. This is very much a warm toned milk chocolate brown. It had great coverage in 1 coat but not quite a 1 coater. The second coat deepens the color to what you see in the bottle.

Final Thoughts

I loved that this release wasn’t your typical spring collection! I liked that this had classic spring colors with a twist plus polishes that could be worn any time of year that don’t really scream any particular season. My personal favorites would be I’d Pick You, No Illusions, Mist Me and Frequent Flyer.
