Hey guys! Today’s blog post is for the newest collection by Holo Taco! I have 2 cremes and 3 toppers to share with you all. Big shout out to my husband for snagging this collection for my birthday!
This collection launched a few weeks ago so it is still currently available on the Holo Taco website. As always, I will have links and sale information at the end of the post.

Laven-duh
Description: a a pale lavender purple creme polish
Price: $11
Laven-duh had a really great formula. It was slightly on the thicker side of normal but around the thickness, I have come to find as normal for the Holo Taco creme formula. Due to that thickness, it was VERY opaque.
I found this polish doesn’t seem to like being overworked but it applied buttery smooth so overworking it really isn’t necessary. It also self leveled beautifully.
I found it to be a cool toned lavender that was fitting for the season as well as a transition shade for Spring. It didn’t feel chalky like a lot of pastels feel but I could still tell that it had a lot of white in the base.
On my nails, it was just slightly too uneven to be a 1 coater. But if I was using it as a base for nail art or wasn’t feeling particularly picky, I could have gotten away with wearing it in one coat.
My photos show Laven-duh in 2 coats plus glossy and matte top coats. This polish did dry down fairly glossy on its own.
Shady Navy
Description: a true navy blue crème
Price: $11
Shady Navy also has a fantastic formula. It self leveled like a dream and applied buttery smooth. Like the other cremes by this brand, it was a little on the thicker side but I didn’t have any problems with the application. It was also VERY opaque and caused some slight staining on my skin. If you get this one in your cuticle area, it is going to be a pain in the butt to get out with your cleanup brush.
Like the description says, it is a true navy blue. It’s not so dark that it will appear black in low lighting. I found this was opaque on me in 1 coat.
My photos show Shady Navy in 2 coats plus both glossy and matte top coats. This also dried down fairly glossy on its own.
Like I mentioned, this one did cause some staining on me. I would recommend removing this with the soak off method (click here for my tutorial on that) and not scrubbing it off due to how pigmented it is. I got some on my dominant hand while swatching and it stained my skin blue.
Celestial Lights
Description: a colour-shifting topper packed with fine iridescent shimmer in a clear base. Shimmer is predominantly green and shifts to purple.
Price: $13
Celestial Lights had a great formula. The base didn’t feel overly thick or thin and I didn’t have any application issues. In person, the shimmer effect to my eye had a green to blue to purple color shift. The shift was most easily seen over black.
My photos show Celestial lights in 1 coat over black (Heather’s Hues Shadow) and in 2 coats on its own on my ring finger. This polish dries down a little flat so you will want top coat for a glossy finish. Nothing in here dried textured or will be difficult to remove.
Personally, I really liked this one over black!
Polar Princess
Description: Colour-shifting topper packed with fine iridescent shimmer in a clear base. Shimmer is predominantly pink and shifts to yellow.
Price: $13
Polar Princess had a beautiful formula. The base didn’t feel overly thick or thin and I didn’t have any application issues. The shimmer effect in here was very strong and in slightly larger particle size. It was also very color shifty. Over black and on its own, I was seeing a pink, gold, yellow to green color shift.
My photos show Polar Princess in 1 coat over black (Heather’s Hues Shadow) and in 2 coats on its own. I prefer this one as a topper, particularly over black.
Twilight Shimmer
Description: Colour-shifting topper packed with fine iridescent shimmer in a clear base. Shimmer is predominantly purple and shifts to blue.
Price: $13
Twilight Shimmer had a wonderful formula. Like the previous toppers, it didn’t feel overly thick or thin and I didn’t have any application issues. To my eye, the shimmer effect had a purple, blue, to pinkish golden color shift at extreme angles.
Final Thoughts
Overall I really enjoyed this collection. In general, I am not a creme polish kind of gal. I tend to only really use creme polishes for swatching toppers and occasionally for pedicures. However, the cremes in this collection both performed really well. I was surprised that Laven-duh wasn’t streaky or difficult to work with.
My top picks are going to be Polar Princess and Twilight Shimmer. I am still not a huge fan of the brush this brand’s toppers come with (I went over that in this blog post) so I did swap out my topper brushes for some paddle brushes by KBShimmer. The creme polishes come with a wider brush which is fantastic imo.
