Hi friends! Ooh just when you thought I was all done with the summer nail polish collections, Holo Taco pops up with their summer 2023 release! I feel like this is the collection that I have been waiting for them to release. We have MULTIPLE finishes, all with multiple components within each polish.
The Vacation collection is available right now on the Holo Taco website. This collection is not limited edition and at the time of posting, is still in stock. I did receive these in PR so thank you very much to the Holo Taco team for sending this over to me!

Beach Please
Description: Sand-coloured jelly holographic glitter polish with gold reflective glitters
Beach Please I am not usually one for sand colored polishes but the glitter combination in Beach Please had me SO happy! The base was pretty thick but I didn’t have any issues with application. It didn’t have the wet sand like application some reflective glitters have but it does dry down very textured.
I paired this polish with the Salon Perfect Glitter Gloss to smooth everything out before my quick dry top coat (I used Sweet & Sour Lacquer’s Gloss Sauce if you’re curious). I found that as I finished my swatches, my nails were starting to feel textured so you might need a third coat of top coat to keep everything smooth.
I had a hard time seeing the gold reflective glitters out in the sunlight. I could see some golden twinkles but my eyes had a hard time differentiating them between the holographic sparkle and the sandy base color. There is *a lot* of sparkle with this polish in direct lighting and my eyes just went NOPE.
My photos show Beach Please in 2 coats plus 2 coats of top coat. I would caution those of you with shorter nails from adding a third coat as the thickness of the base will bulk up your nails. I liked coverage a lot with 2 coats but longer nails will likely need a third. If you like sheer washes of color with a whole lot of sparkle, this looks great in just one coat.
For the love of all things good, don’t scrub this polish off. Use the soak off method or a peel off base coat. Removal will be incredibly difficult if you scrub this off.
Late Checkout
Description: a purple-indigo shimmer polish with gold reflective glitters
Late Checkout as a lover of gold, I don’t know why I thought Late Checkout was going to be boring. It is not. I feel like outside of direct sunlight where the reflective glitters come out to play, it doesn’t seem as impressive as the other polishes in this release but it sure was pretty.
The formula was very thick, I went back and forth on if I wanted to add some thinner to my bottle. I likely will need some thinner next time I reach for it though. Coverage was sheer on the first coat but ok on the second. I had a little bit of unevenness with two coats but due to the thickness, I really didn’t want to add a third coat.
The reflective glitter do give this polish some texture so you will likely be in for multiple coats of top coat to smooth everything out nicely.
My photos show Late Checkout in 2 coats plus 2 coats of glossy top coat. I do think this will be a 2-3 coater depending on your personal preference. I found out that in bright lighting, I could see some unevenness in the base but it wasn’t bad enough that I thought I needed to reswatch.
Do NOT scrub this polish off, you will regret it. Use the soak off method or a peel off base coat.
Never Tide Down
Description: Turquoise jelly polish with iridescent flakes, holographic glitter and crushed holo
Never Tide Down oooh this shade of turquoise is SO very beautiful! This polish screams summertime vacations to me.
Both the formula and application for this polish were fantastic. The base didn’t feel thick at all which I was happy about. Coverage was also really good. I didn’t expect it to be a 2 coater for me.
The holographic glitters do not dry down overly textured at all, one coat of top coat smoothed everything out nicely for me. The sparkle factor made me very happy. The holographic flakies seem to kind of blend into the base a little bit. They will pop a lot more in low light situations.
My photos show Never Tide Down in 2 coats plus glossy top coat. Removal won’t be the most difficult thing ever if you decide to scrub this polish off. I wouldn’t recommend it but you could do it if you wanted.
Private Villa
Description: Red-pink jelly holographic shimmer polish with hot pink reflective glitters
Private Villa I knew from the promo shots that I was going to love Private Villa and I was right! This is a beautiful pink leaning red. I think the pink reflective glitters add to the overall pink look of this polish.
The base was a lot thinner than I expected from a reflective glitter but not at all overly thin or watery. It was a pretty normal consistency for a glitter polish but not “wet sand like”. It is a little sheer on the first coat so you do need to build it up to reach full opacity. Coverage is pretty even so if you don’t mind VNL this is passable in 2 coats.
I was able to see the pink reflective glitters out in natural sunlight. I thought this would dry down more textured than it ended up being. One thick coat of the Sweet & Sour Gloss Sauce top coat smoothed everything out nicely for me but a second coat of top coat will likely be necessary for long term wear.
My photos show Private Village in 3 coats plus glossy top coat.
Tax Haven
Description: Multichromatic formula that shifts between bronze and gold with scattered gold holographic glitter
Tax Haven out of all of the polishes, I think this might be the least unique but still oh so beautiful. Multichromes are a finish that I always forget that I like.
The base on this was on the thicker side but still very easy to work with. It’s pretty sheer on the first coat but built up quickly for me with two coats. I was seeing a strong red/brown/gold color shift in person.
This multichrome is reminding me of a multichrome polish from Heather’s Hues called Sisu from one of my first blog posts, Moxie Collection. The color shifts are different between the two but they are similar. For whatever reason, prior to getting these in hand I thought the gold glitter in here was reflective and not holographic. It’s very much holographic and not super textured.
My photos show Tax Haven in 2 coats plus glossy top coat. One coat of top coat will smooth everything out as well as give the polish a glossy finish. Removal won’t be overly difficult.
Final Thoughts
With the exception of the Royalty Debut Trio, I haven’t been this pumped for a Holo Taco collection in a hot minute. I loved everything about this release. I loved the variety of finishes, I loved how each polish had multiple components. I loved the beachy theme that just screams summer!
I really hope Holo Taco decides to do more non-limited edition releases similar to this as it was a hit for me. My top picks are going to be Beach Please, Private Villa and Never Tide Down.
I would love to know what you think of this collection! Leave a comment and let me know!
