Hi friends! Today’s blog post is for the newest release from Holo Taco called I Need Space. This collection is inspired by Mars and all things spacey.

Alien Infatuation
Description: Grey jelly formula with a green shimmer and a dash of scattered holo
Alien Infatuation had a fantastic formula and applied really nicely. This was the polish from the release that I was most looking forward to. In my opinion, the base leans a little bit in the crelly side of formulations so it was fairly opaque on me.
The shimmer is the star of the show in this polish but I couldn’t help but love the delicate twinkle you get from the holographic. I feel like I would have liked the shimmer more if it had some color shifty action happening.
My photos show Alien Infatuation in 2 coats plus glossy top coat. I will call this a 2-3 coater depending on application and nail length. Nothing in here dries down textured and removal will be very easy but messy.
This isn’t Spirit Fingers (Holo Taco x Safiya Nygaard) with a green shimmer, the grey base is a different shade of grey. I do think if you liked Spirit Fingers that you might just like this one too.
I’m Rover It
Description: Burnt red jelly shimmer formula with orange shimmer and holographic micro-flakes
I’m Rover It was the surprise love for me in this release. I didn’t really care too strongly for the promotional images but there’s something about this firey yet darken red that just did something to me!
The formula on I’m Rover It was fantastic, the base didn’t feel overly thick or thin and I didn’t have any issues with the application. Because this is in a jelly base, you do need to build it up for the most opacity.
I had originally though that I reached full opacity with it in two coats but looking at the polish in direct sunlight, I saw some uneveness in the base so I will call this a 2-3 coater depending on preference.
My photos show I’m Rover It in 2 coats plus glossy top coat. While I didn’t personally experience any staining, I do think this polish is a potential stainer. Removal will be fairly easy but messy.
Orbite Me
Description: Crushed holographic formula in a deep burgundy shade
Orbite Me this is such a deep rich shade of red, that it feels a little surprising to be released this time of year.
I found the formula on Orbite Me to be fantastic, not too thick or too thin. The holographic flakies in the crushed holographic formula look like glitters but behave more like flakes so they dry down flat.
My photos show Orbite Me in 2 coats plus glossy top coat. This polish dries down very dull so you will want top coat for a glossy finish. This is another very pigmented polish so I think it is a potential stainer.
I had originally thought this was going to be Crimson Void (Dark Rainbow Collection) but in the crushed holographic formula. The base colors on both polishes are different.
Solo Mission
Description: a dusty rose jelly formula with pink/orange iridescent flakes and scattered holo
Solo Mission had a good but thicker formula. The thickness didn’t make for a difficult time with application. It didn’t feel so thick that I needed to add thinner to my bottle.
Based on the promotional images, I didn’t expect myself to vibe with this one very much. I like the flakies and holographic but the base color just isn’t a shade of pink that I vibe with. It pulls a little taupe leaning on me.
The flakies and holographic were the stars of the show for me. The flakies have a pink to orange color shift with a yellowy green coming in at extreme angles. Neither the flakies or holographic give off any true texture but you will still want top coat for a smooth finish.

Waste of Space
Description: a black jelly formula with red and blue iridescent flakes and scattered holographic glitters
Waste of Space is one of those polishes that doesn’t photograph very well. I found in photos it looks kinda meh but is really pretty in person.
The formula on this polish was very much on the thicker side. I ended up adding thinner to my bottle while I was doing both my full hand swatches as well as my live swatches. Adding thinner made the application much better for me.
I’m surprised to hear read the official says the flakies include a blue flakie, I wasn’t seeing any blue flakies or color shifts in person. This is the only polish in this release that I think is very likely to be a solid 3 coater. Coverage was still patchy for me in two coats.
My photos show Waste of Space in 3 coats plus glossy top coat. Waste Of Space dries down pretty dull so you will want top coat for a glossy finish. Due to the glitters and flakies, I would reccoemdn the soak off method or a peel off base coat for removal.
Final Thoughts
Overall I thought this was a great release. It seems like this is sort of like an anti-Valentine’s Day collection without actually saying it’s an anti-Valentine’s Day collection.
The color story of this release looks great, I love that we have a variety of finishes in this release. While I do feel like the colors themselves are a little bit too dark for me personally I don’t think there’s anything wrong or bad about it.
My top picks are I’m Rover It and Orbite Me.
