Happy Saturday folks! Today’s blog post is for the September 2023 Hella Handmade Creations. Don’t be fooled by the collage, I have 5 polishes to share this month. One came in a little late and when I was making my collages I totally blanked on adding it in.

Hella Handmade Creations is a monthly indie polish collaboration. Makers each pick their own theme and make a series of polishes based on that theme. Each month brands have a new polish, that is exclusive to the Hella Handmade Creations website.
Bee’s Knees Lacquer – Little Bird
Series: Belladonna (new series)
Inspo: the book Belladonna
Description: a white sister polish to Doomicorn with the same green to aqua to blue shimmer
Price: $13 for 15ml Cap: none
Little Bird had a fantastic formula. In typical Doomicorn fashion, this is a fairly sheer polish so you will need to build it up to gain opacity. I will say this does seem to have a little bit more opacity than the original Doomicorn polish but you will still have very obvious VNL after 3 coats.
The white base is a little bit uneven but nothing that I don’t expect from a white sheer polish. The shimmer is ridiculously strong so that largely hides any imperfections in the base. The shimmer is as described and doesn’t show any brush strokes.
My photos show Little Bird in 3 coats plus glossy top coat. Removal will be very easy and I didn’t have any issues with staining.

Color Spectrum Polish – Collect All Fantasy Balls
Theme: Spice Girls
Inspiration: Spice Girls Fantasy Ball Lollipops
Description: An orange jelly with black flakes and holo.
Price: $12.50 for 13ml | Cap: 100
Collect All Fantasy Balls as a former Spice Girl lollipop fanatic, I was so giddy when I saw the inspo for this polish! The base is very sheer so not only will you need to build it up, you will also have very obvious VNL with it.
In the bottle, this looks like a burnt orange to a light brown shade. On the nail, it looks more like a pumpkin orange. Not gonna lie, I do wish this was the burnt orange/light brown shade it is in the bottle but I do love the orange base.
The flakies all spread out evenly without giving off any texture. I found the holographic to be a very delicate sparkle. The base is slightly on the thicker side but still easy to work with.
My photos show Collect All Fantasy Balls in 3 coats plus glossy top coat. Removal will be super easy but fairly messy.

Crystal Knockout – WASP
Theme: Women In Control
Inspiration: Lisbeth Salander from The Girl In the Dragon Tattoo
Description: a holographic base with holographic micro flakes, a purple-blue aurora glow, blue-green iridescent micro shreds, and iridescent pink and magenta micro glitter.
Price: $12.50 for 15ml | Cap: None
WASP is a pretty sheer but versatile polish, you will want to either build it up or use it as a topper. I show it as a topper in my live swatch video and it works really well in just one coat.
The base itself is on the thicker side but not so thick that it needed thinner. It applies very evenly. All of the components spread out evenly but do give off some texture. For long term wear, I think this would benefit from either a glitter smoothing top coat or doubling up on the thicker top coat.
My photos show WASP in 3 coats plus glossy top coat. Due to the glitter and micro shreds, I wouldn’t reccomend scrubbing this one off.

Music City Beauty – Amethyst
Theme: Crystals and Gemstones
Inspiration: Amethyst
Description: a purple base with pink shimmer and silver holographic flakies
Price: $13 for 15ml | Cap: None
Amethyst is a beautiful jewel toned purple base with a ton of holographic goodness. The pink shimmer mainly looks like a pinky purple due to how opaque (I think at least) the base is. This is was almost a one coater on me.
You get a ton of holographic sparkle from the flakies without any texture. I don’t see anyone really needing more than two coats for this polish.
My photos show Amethyst in 2 coat plus glossy top coat. This is a very pigmented polish so make sure to wear base coat to prevent any staining.

Night Owl Lacquer – The Hauntening
Theme: Bob’s Burgers (new)
Inspiration: a Halloween episode
Description: a milky white with holographic flecks, red/orange/green crystal chameleon flakes and black shreds
Price: $13 for 15ml | Cap: None
The Hauntening made me very happy. I am a huge sucker for a white crelly base and I love these big ol glitter shreds. The base is on the thicker side but what I usually expect from glitter crellies.
All of the flakies and shreds spread out evenly but the shreds do give off some decent texture. You will want to double up on your top coat to get everything nice and smooth. You also won’t need to hold the bottle upside down or do any fishing to get the shreds to come out of the bottle.
My photos show The Hauntening in 3 coats plus 2 coats of top coat. This will likely be a 2-3 coater depending on how you feel about white glitter crellies. If you usually do two coats this will be good in two. I always want all of the glitter so I always do three.
Removal will of course be incredibly difficult if you try to scrub this polish off. Use the soak off method or a peel off base coat for the easiest removal.
