Happy New Year friends! I hope everyone has a fantastic New Year. Today’s blog post is for the January 2023 Hella Handmade Creations. So currently, I only have one polish to share with you all. One more is supposed to be on its way but I am not sure when it will be arriving so I figured I could just hit post and update when needed. Second polish has been added!
In case you missed the update, I am on a little break from taking in so much PR/sponsored content and focusing on branching out for the new year. I started doing this last year (with all of those China Glaze and Orly posts) but for the new year, I am going to branch out even more. I’m pretty excited about it to be and I hope you all are too!
So yes, the branching out aspect is one of the reasons why this month’s (and next month’s) collab boxes are going to be smaller than what was typical for me last year.

Hella Handmade Creations is a monthly indie polish collaboration. Makers each pick their own theme and make a series of polishes based on that theme. Each month brands have a new polish, that is exclusive to the Hella Handmade Creations website.
Heather’s Hues – 10 & 2
Theme: Nascar (new theme!)
Inspiration: Audi TT
Description: a raspberry jelly filled with a shimmery microflakes that shift lime-teal-blue-violet
Price: $13 for 15ml | Cap: None
10 & 2 had a great formula. It was slightly on the thicker side but I found application very easy. Since this one is in a jelly base, it starts off and stays fairly sheer. You will have very obvious VNL with this one in 3 coats.
The raspberry base leans towards the more pinky/magneta side of raspberry. I LOVE this shade and paired with that super color shifty shimmer? Perfection! The microflakies are very small (think large particle shimmer small) so you get a ton of sparkle, without texture and no brush strokes. I was seeing all of the described colors.
10 & 2 is sheer enough that you should be able to use it over a variety of colors, as long as you don’t mind that the base color will be changed due to the raspberry base. I took a quick screen grab from my live swatch video to show it in 1 coat over black.
My photos show 10 & 2 in 3 coats plus glossy top coat. Removal will be very easy but I would reccomend a base coat as this does seem fairly pigmented.
Heather’s Hues WiTS in Honeyed Cherry Blossom
Theme: Little Trees car air fresheners (new theme!)
Description: a beautiful blend of Japanese cherry blossoms and mimosa, and bergamot with notes oforange citrus and crisp apple, all over a base of rich, golden honey and tiny hints of cedarwood and musk
Price: $9 for 2oz | Cap: 40
This month’s scent is very floral, with just a hint of sweetness from the honey and fruit fragrances. It’s just sweet/fruity enough for me to like it but it is much more floral than I would normally choose for myself.

Night Owl Lacquer – No Patience For Jam Hands
Theme: Gilmore Girls
Description: a deep berry jelly filled with gold holographic micro glitters
Price: $12 for 15ml | Cap: None
No Patience For Jam Hands had a great but thicker formula. I found it very easy to apply so it wasn’t too thick. The holographic glitters in here are very very sparkly and looks really fantastic.
They do dry down textured and are top coat hungry, so you will want to double up on top coat to smooth everything out. I opted to pair this with a glitter smoothing top coat (KBShimmer’s Smooth Moves) before my quick dry top coat.
Just wow, did I mention this polish was very sparkly? I was really happy that I was able to see this one out in natural lighting. It’s super holographic, even indoors I could see rainbows.
My photos show No Patience For Jam Hands for 3 coats plus 2 coats of top coat. To get the same color on the nail that you see in the bottle, you will want to go in for 3 coats. I could see people with shorter nails being able to get away with 2 coats.
Removal of course will be on the more difficult side due to the glitters. The soak off method or a peel off base coat will be the best way to remove this one.
I figured I should compare this to a recent red tone holo polish, Ruby (Night Owl Lacquer Be A Gem collection). Aside from Ruby being a silver holo flakie polish and not a glitter, the base colors are also different. This one is darker.
