Hi friends and happy Saturday to you all! Today’s blog post is for the August 2023 Hella Handmade Creations. This was a light month so I have 3 items to share.
I just checked the HHC website and it looks like there are going to be some overpours available from the April 2023 sale period as well as some new polishes for the Hellaween event when the shop opens.

Bee’s Knees Lacquer – A Legend Has Begun
Series: Ice Nine Kills
Inspiration: the I.N.K. song Farewell II Flesh
Description: a persimmon orange with glowy gold to green shimmer
Price: $13 for 15ml | Cap: None
A Legend Has Begun oy vey I love how the shimmer looks paired with this orangey base color! It’s not the most color shifty shimmer but it is strong and glowy. I could see the green color shift at extreme angles.
The coverage was significantly better than I was expecting. I thought this would be a more sheer wash of color with ridiculously strong shimmer ala BKL Doomicorn siblings but this actually reached enough opacity where VNL wasn’t super obvious. I could see it at some angles but it wasn’t glaringly obvious!
My photos show A Legend Has Begin in 3 coats plus glossy top coat. This will likely be a 2-3 coater depending on how you feel about VNL. Removal will be pretty easy and I didn’t experience any staining.
This isn’t a dupe for BKL Dammit Malachi (Radio Rental collection). The shimmer in A Legend Has Begin is smoother and has a different color shift.

Crystal Knockout – WW
Series: Women In Control
Inspiration: Mission Impossible’s White Widow.
Description: A white base with orange-green shifting shimmer and copper and violet micro flakies
Price: $12 for 15ml | Cap: None
WW is such a beautiful soft and delicate polish! My bottle was fairly thick, not so thick that I needed to add thinner but thicker than I expected it to be.
The shimmer in here is so strong and super glowy. The color shifts were as described. Prior to reading the official description, I thought there was some holographic in here. I feel like I can see some rainbow goodness in my photos as well.
Since this polish was on the thicker side, I opted to swatch it in 2 coats. I had a little bit of VNL but not enough to get me to add a third coat. Personally, I liked coverage in two coats anyway.
My photos show WW in 2 coats plus glossy top coat. Nothing in here dries down textured and removal will be very easy.

Night Owl Lacquer – Alert the Corgies!
Series: Gilmore Girls (final polish)
Description: a greyed dark violet filled with rainbow shifting crystal chameleon flakes and holographic flecks.

Alert the Corgies! oh how I love greyed out polishes! This color is perfect for the upcoming Falloween season!
Formula, application and coverage were all fantastic on this polish. On the first coat it’s a little bit sheer but it built up perfectly for me on that second coat. You get a lot of flakie goodness and sparkle factor without any glitter-like texture. The holographic flecks made my heart very happy.
Speaking of making my heart happy, I KNEW I needed to add a matte top coat to this one. I loved it even more matte than glossy.
My photos show Alert The Corgies! in 2 coats plus both glossy and matte top coats. Removal won’t be overly difficult but I wouldn’t recommend scrubbing this one off.

The Hella Handmade Creations store opens on the 14th of every month at 12:01am Eastern Time and closes on the 21st at 11:59pm HST (4:59AM Eastern time on the 22nd). All items sold are on a pre-order basis and won’t ship until around 4 weeks after the sale period.
