Heather’s Hues February 2021 Monthly Duo

Today I have the new February monthly duo by Heather’s Hues! Forgive me for the late-ish post but I took a few days off earlier in the month and am playing catchup now. The theme this month is Opposites Attract. The duo is available now on the Heather’s Hues website. I will have all of that information at the end of the post. My live swatch video for this duo is up now on YouTube.

If you haven’t heard of this brand before, Heather’s Hues is a indie nail polish brand. Their polishes are handmade in the USA, 5 free, vegan, and cruelty free.

Disclaimer: I was sent these products as PR in exchange for photographs and an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own. My photos were taken indoors with daylight/LED bulbs and outdoors in natural light. I used the KB Shimmer Clearly On Top glossy top coat, Glisten & Glow Glitter Grabber (for glitter polishes) and the Glisten & Glow Matte top coat for my photos.

Millefiori

Description: a ridiculously fun black to colorless thermal packed with a mix of matte, metallic, and holo glitters and iridescent flakes in a variety of blues, greens, violets, and pinks.
Price: $12.50

Millefiori had a fantastic formula. This applies really nicely but slightly textured/gritty from all of the glitters and flakies. Like the description says, it is a very fun polish! The glitter mix is just so colorful and bright. They spread out evenly without needing to do anything special. This would make for a very interesting topper with the glitter mix. Some of these glitters are black light reactive.

I used 3 coats for my photos. To completely smooth out the glitters, I used 1 coat of a glitter eating top coat before my glossy top coat. This will be difficult to remove if you try to scrub it off. I recommend soaking it off or using a peel off base coat.

Set Fire to the Rain

Description: a grayed denim crelly filled with a mix of red, orange, gold, and sapphire glitters, red to blue multichrome flakes, gold metallic flakes, and a kiss of holo sparkle.
Price: $12.50

Set Fire to the Rain had a great formula. The glitters and flakies spread out evenly on their out without needing to do anything special. I feel like this has just a hint of a purple vibe to it but I would agree that it is a greyed out denim color. I used 2 coats for my photos.

The glitters aren’t as textured feeling in this as the previous polish so only 1 coat of glossy top coat was needed to smooth it out. I would still recommend soaking this off or even using a peel off base coat for easier removal.

Final Thoughts

I keep going back and forth on which of these was my favorite! I love the colorful glitter mix in Millefiori but I love the base color of Set Fire. I’d like to try using Millefiori as a topper since that’s how I usually wear black to colorless thermals. So this month I can’t recommend one over the other because they’re both great and I love them both for different reasons.
