Glisten & Glow 41st Birthday Polish

[Press Samples – Post Disclosure Page]

Happy Tuesday! Today I have a couple of blog posts going up. The first one is this gorgeous jelly polish by Glisten & Glow. This polish is releasing in celebration of the owner, Jill’s 41st birthday.

Also releasing at the same day/time as this polish is the Love Songs Trio Volume 2. Click here for my review on those. As always, links and sale details can be found at the end of the post.

Glisten & Glow is a US based indie brand. Their polishes are in 15ml bottles, 5 free, vegan and cruelty free.

41 & Feelin’ It

Description: a black jelly polish filled with a rainbow color shreds
Price: $10.50 for 15ml or $22 for the bundle

41 & Feelin’ It had a gorgeous formula. Since the black base is a jelly, this starts off fairly sheer. The rainbow shreds spread out pretty evenly but they do stick up off the nail at odd angles. As I did each layer of the polish, I tapped down the shreds just to try to get them to lay flat.

I am kind of a sucker for a black base with rainbow anything so I thought this polish was really gorgeous. I found for my nail length, I got the most depth of color with 3 coats. In 2 coats, I had some light spots but I think if your nails are very short it might be passable in 3 coats.

My photos show 41 & Feelin’ It in 3 coats plus 1 coat of the Glisten & Glow Glitter Grabber followed by their quick dry top coat. This polish dried down fairly dull so you will want top coat for both a smooth finish and a glossy finish. I will note, I did have a few spots that the shreds poked up after top coating but that is pretty typical for polishes with these kinds of components.

Removal will be on the difficult side if you try to scrub this polish off so I would recommend soaking it off (tutorial here) or pairing it with a peel off base coat.

The Bundle

The birthday polish will also be available in a bundle with the Glisten & Glow Glitter Grabber and Top Coat! Long time readers will know that I LOVE both of these products and use them constantly. If you wear glitter or flakie polishes, you will really love Glitter Grabber. If you wear any nail polish at all, the Glisten & Glow top coat is a game changer.

(Note: the cabochon pictured in the bundle picture is my own addition. I forgot to take pictures of the bundle together before I swatched it. If you’d like to know how I added that to the bottle, I have a howto over here)

Final Thoughts

There is just something about a black base with rainbow anything added that makes me very happy. It’s not a secret that I am just a wee bit obsessed with glitter so of course I really liked this polish.

If you pick this up, I really recommend snagging the Glitter Grabber with it. You will get a much smoother final layer if you use a glitter smoothing top coat before going in with your normal quick dry top coat.
