Geeky Bee Nail Colors – PLUS ULTRA! collection (New Indie Brand Alert!!!)

[Press Samples, affiliate links used]

Happy Tuesday everyone! Today I am sharing a brand spanking new indie polish brand! Geeky Bee’s Nail Colors is a new brand that just launched this past weekend! I have the PLUS ULTRA! collection which is a trio of polishes based on the anime, My Hero Academia. Spoiler, I had a blast swatching these and I am really excited to see what Geeky Bee’s comes up with next. These polishes are all available now on the Geeky Bee’s website. I will have links to where you can purchase these at the end of the post!

Geeky Bee’s Nail Colors is a US based indie brand. Their polishes are all fandom/geek inspired, handmade, 5 free and cruelty free.

Between Fire and Ice

Inspiration: Inspired by Shoto Todoroki
Description: A pearly white shimmer-based glitter bomb with fiery orange and red, and icy blue and white glitter.
Price: $9

Between Fire and Ice Had a great formula. It wasn’t too thick or too thin. It is jam packed with glitters but it applies really evenly without needing to dab glitters in place. The glitters are pretty dense so this as a topper will obscure the base color slightly. The pearly white shimmer is visible on the nail but the glitters are the star of the show! I just loved the glitter mix in this polish. I used 3 coats for my photos. This does dry down a bit textured from the glitters, so I used a glitter eating top coat before my glossy top coat.

On my ring finger nail, I opted to layer this with a milky white frakenpolish (I mixed it myself) to give the appearance of a crelly polish. I really loved this one that way. To be honest, I was going to swatch it like that on all of the fingers because that’s just how I wanted to wear it. Wayne talked me out of it, as he said that it wouldn’t show how it actually looks when applied. Good news, is that I LOVED it swatched this way.

Born Quirkless

Inspiration: Izuku Midoriya
Description: A mild-mannered turquoise crelly with pink and violet shimmer, and red and white glitter
Price: $9

Born Quirkless also had a great formula. The consistency was perfect, not too thick or too thin. The shimmer gives it a very pearlescent effect, which I am usually not a fan of but I really digged (dug?) it paired with the base color and the glitters. The glitters spread out evenly without needing help with placement and the shimmer wasn’t brush strokey. I used 2-3 coats for full opacity. Some nails were good in 2 coats and others needed 3.

The glitters don’t give off much if any, texture, and 1 layer of top coat smooths it out nicely. This one is very unique to my collection, I don’t own anything or recall seeing anything, similar to it. In the bottle, I questioned how good it would actually look but on the nail I liked it. The white bar glitters look really neat.

Vicious Explosions

Inspiration: Katsuki Bakugo
Description: A black crelly with gold shimmer, and jam-packed with orange, red, green, and gold glitter of various shapes and sizes.
Price: $9

Vicious Explosions Also had a fantastic formula. It was a little sheer on the first coat. Application reminded me more of a jelly polish than a crelly but it builds up nicely. The glitters all spread out evenly and easily. I really loved this glitter mix, the little bar glitters, in particular, made me really happy. The orange glitters paired with the black base gave this Halloween vibes for me. I used 3 coats for my photos.

This dries down slightly textured so you will want to double up on top coat for a smooth finish. The bar glitters don’t give off any pokey bits. This also has some holographic glitters that just look amazing.

Final Thoughts

In case it wasn’t completely obvious, I really loved this trio! This is an amazing start for a new brand. These formulas were fantastic and this brand uses my second favorite brush style. Even though I have never seen Hero Academia, I LOVE it when brands do anime/fandom inspired releases. I am very excited to see what else this brand comes up with in the future. I’m crossing my fingers for an Inuyasha or Buffy The Vampire Slayer release. My favorite polish from this release would be Between Fire And Ice.
