Geekish Glitter Lacquer – Into Every Generation Collection

So my level of excitement today is in EPIC proportions! Today’s blog post is for a new collection by Geekish Glitter Lacquer and it is inspired by my ALL TIME FAVORITE TV show, Buffy The Vampire Slayer. Huge thank you to Lexi from GGL for sending this to my to celebrate the 1 year anniversary of this blog!

Anyway, this collection is a collaboration between Lexi and Jenn (@nailsbyjenno over on Instagram) and is called Into Every Generation. It’s a 7 piece collection that is available now on the Geekish Glitter Lacquer website. As always, I will have all of the sale details linked at the end of this post.

Geekish Glitter Lacquer is a US based indie brand. Their polishes are 5 free and not tested on animals.

Warning: I tried not to do any spoilers for this post. I couldn’t help myself and added some character commentary. None of the names are spoilers but they are quotes from the show. One name does have the curse word for “female dog” in it.

Did We Not Put The ‘Grrr’ In ‘Girl’?

Inspiration: Willow
Description: An orange jelly base with red-gold-green aurora shimmer with green-purple-blue UCC flakies.
Price: $11

Did We Not Put The ‘Grrr’ In ‘Girl’? had a wonderful jelly formula. This is a pumpkin orange type shade. The shimmer and flakies look really stunning in this base! The flakies all spread out evenly and easily on their own. In person, I was seeing mainly the gold to green color shift on the nail from the shimmer.

I used 3 coats for my photos. I did have some VNL with this polish. I think on natural nails, you will have some slight VNL but not super obvious.

I really liked that the Willow polish was a Halloween pumpkin orange.

Note: I didn’t think of it while I was swatching this, but I think using a VNL blurring base coat would work nicely with this polish if you are opposed to VNL.

I Hope Evil Takes Mastercard

Inspiration: Faith
Description: A rich red jelly base with gold shimmer, gold microflakies, black holo shreds, and a touch of holo pigment.
Price: $11

I Hope Evil Takes Mastercard had a great jelly formula. It applied really nicely. The black holo shreds are a nice scattering on the nail.

I didn’t need to fish for them but I did keep my bottle upside down for the third coat. A few hours had passed between when I shook this before swatching and when I did my second and third coats (I had to make dinner) so I noticed that I was getting fewer black shreds with my second coat. I don’t think that would be necessary if I had just swatched all 3 coats back to back like a normal person.

The holo in this is much lighter in comparison to the Buffy polish. It’s more of a nice holo sparkle vs a BOOM holo flare. I used 3 coats for my photos. I didn’t have any staining with this polish.

I feel like a red polish with black in it, suits Faith perfectly. I know there’s a whole redemption arc for her but she is still one of my least favorite characters in the series.

I Laugh In The Face Of Danger. And Then I Hide Until It Goes Away

Inspiration: Xander
Description: A sage green crelly with an aqua shimmer that has a slight purple shift in certain lighting and blue-green-gold UCC flakies.
Price: $11

I Laugh In The Face Of Danger. And Then I Hide Until It Goes Away had a great formula. It applies evenly and easily. The flakies spread out evenly on their own. The shimmer looks very blue to me.

This was opaque in 2 coats but I had some transparency on my tips so I used 3 coats for my photos. I think shorter nails would be good in 2. Nothing in here dried textured nor should be difficult to remove.

I’m undecided on what color makes me think Xander, but I kinda love that he got a “sage” green since I don’t feel like he is particularly wise. He has his moments but he isn’t the brains in the group. Out of all of the Scoobies, Xander is the one that I found myself disliking the most often. I love him but I also feel like he’s kind of a jerk.

I’m The Thing That Monsters Have Nightmares About

Inspiration: Buffy
Description: A gold-orange-rose shifting base with red-gold-copper UCC flakies and a touch of holo pigment.
Price: $12

I’m The Thing That Monsters Have Nightmares About had an amazing formula that is just stunning! The base is very color shifty and paired with the flakies and holo, it’s really something! It applied really nicely and I didn’t have any application issues.

I was seeing all of the described colors on the nail in person. I found this to be opaque in 2 coats. I used 3 coats for my photos as I had some light spots towards my tips. Nothing in here was difficult to remove.

Buffy is my obvious choice for my favorite character on the show. I love that her polish is a strong color shifty polish with flakies and holo because that is one of my favorite types of polishes.

If Nothing We Do Matters, Then All That Matters Is What We Do

Inspiration: Angel
Description: A white crelly base with a red-gold-green aurora shimmer with red-gold-copper UCC flakies and gold-silver flakies
Price: $12

If Nothing We Do Matters, Then All That Matters Is What We Do had an amazing crelly formula. I was really impressed by how evenly this applied! I was seeing all of the described colors in person on my nails. The flakies spread out evenly and easily.

This will be a 2-3 coater depending on the thickness of coats. My middle nail was good 2 coats but the other nails needed 3. I used 3 coats for my photos. Nothing in here dried texture or should be difficult to remove.

I feel like a white polish with red to gold is fitting for Angel for obvious reasons. While I am not Angel fan (the character, I liked the show), I will say he has come a long long way from season 1.

Out. For. A. Walk. Bitch.

Inspiration: Spike
Description: A black jelly base with a red-gold-green aurora shimmer with red-gold-copper UCC flakies and gold-silver flakies
Price: $12

Out. For. A. Walk. Bitch. had a great jelly formula. This polish just glides onto the nail so smoothly! I was seeing all of the described colors on the nail. Since it is a jelly, you will want to build it up for opacity.

I used 3 coats for my photos. You could get a similar look to this by applying 1-2 coats over a black creme. I also think this would be cool over a black linear holographic. Nothing in here dried down textured or was difficult to remove.

Since Spike is known for wearing all black, I found this one very fitting to his character. He’s been one of my favorite characters from his first appearance.

Fun fact: This polish name is based on one of my favorites scenes from the show and I have been known to quote it. Also side note, the actor who plays Spike is in a band called Ghost Of The Robot. They sound amazing.

To Forgive Is An Act of Compassion

Inspiration: Giles
Description: A rich chocolate brown crelly base with green-gold microflakies and gold holo microshreds
Price: $10

To Forgive Is An Act of Compassion had a great formula. The brown base is chocolatey with a hint of grey to it. If you watched the show, it is a very “Giles Tweed” color. The color honestly reminded me a bloomed chocolate but not in a bad way! The flakies all spread out evenly and easily.

This was just a touch sheer so I think unless you go in for very thick coats, this will be a 3 coater. 1 coat of top coat smoothed out any texture. I didn’t have any issues on removal but I think when this fully dries down, the micro shreds might be tricky to remove.

Final Thoughts

I love love LOVED this release!! The polish names made me so freaking happy and I LOVE that this is a Buffy collection that isn’t just vampy colors. There are some Fall/Halloween vibes mixed in and I feel like the polishes color sums up the characters well.

My favorites from this release will have to be Out. For. A. Walk. Bitch, I’m The Thing That Monsters Have Nightmares About and Did We Not Put The ‘Grrr’ In ‘Girl’?.
