Hi friends! Today’s blog post is for the newest Fandom Flakies box. The theme this month is Great British Bakeoff. I love baking, and I love baking reality shows yet for whatever reason I have never seen this show. Anyone else?

Fandom Flakies is a monthly indie collaboration between Bee’s Knees Lacquer, Night Owl Lacquer and Ribbits Stickits. Each month has a guest maker, a new theme and polishes are exclusive to the box.
Bee’s Knees Lacquer – No Soggy Bottoms
Description: a mid-toned grape purple with purple to green multichrome flakes and a scattering of holo flakes
No Soggy Bottoms had a fantastic formula. It starts off a little sheer but builds up really nicely. I think this one will be a 2-3 coater depending on personal preference.
All of the flakies spread out evenly without giving off any texture. Don’t quote me but I think these are the same type of (super) holo flakies that Bee’s Knees uses in the Lion siblings/cousins. Paired with the multichrome flakies, this is a super sparkly polish.
Th grape base thankfully wasn’t stainer nor did I notice any bleeding. I say it again and again, but I really can’t seem to get tired of a purple base with flakies!
My photos show No Soggy Bottoms in 3 coats plus glossy top coat. Coverage was pretty good in 2 coats but the third did add a smidge of opacity as well as deepening the base color. Removal won’t be overly difficult but it will be messy.

LynB Designs – Septuagenarian Velociraptor
Description: a muted denim blue base with scattered black micro flakies, green to blue to purple shifting flakies and scattered holo sparkle
Septuagenarian Velociraptor had a beautiful but sheer formula. I do think this one is sheer enough that you could use it as a topper in 1 coat, otherwise you will want to build this one up to get the most opacity. I did find that in 3 coats I did still have some VNL. The flakies do a good job at distracting the eyes but if you look, you will see your nail.
Back to those flakies, they are really beautiful. I don’t think I would have liked this polish as much if it weren’t for the black flakies. They just seem to add something g special to the polish that I really like. This polish is also very holographic.
My photos show Septuagenarian Velociraptor in 3 coats plus glossy top coat Nothing in here will dry textured or be overly difficult to remove.

Night Owl Lacquer – Bake it Till You Make it
Inspiration: by red velvet cake
Description: a burgundy base filled with fuschia/red/gold micro flakie shimmer.
Bake it Till You Make it had a wonderful formula. The shimmer is very strong and you mainly see the shimmer effect on the nail. I was seeing a pinky red to gold to green extreme angles in the color shifts. The shimmer also gives this a very metallic look on the nail.
This polish was surprisingly opaque, I think most people will likely be good in 2 coats. I had a little bit of VNL so I added a third coat for my swatches. For personal wear, I would wear this in 2 coats.
My photos show Bake It Till You Make It in 3 coats plus glossy top coat. Removal won’t be overly difficult but it will very messy. I didn’t experience any staining.

Ribbits Stickits
This month I tried something different with my waterslide decal application. After cutting the decals from the sheet and placing them in warm water. I applied the decal to a clear stamper head and painted the backing with a white polish. I am going to try this method again for future boxes because I really like how much it pops from the nail.
Scent Description: Mary Berry’s Gingerbread House a fresh baked bread with spice notes of cinnamon, clove, ginger, nutmeg and vanilla beans.
Just wow this month’s fragrance is perfect if you’re like me and love bakery scents! I would say it smells like baked goods with a whole lot of cinnamon. It doesn’t smell like bread to me but it’s definitely delicious smelling.
